Product Description

The 3Com Power over Ethernet Single-Port Midspan Solution can power an IEEE 802.3af compliant device, such as the 3Com Network Jack or IntelliJack Switch, over standard Category 5 or 5e Ethernet cabling. This 48-volt inline power source installs right in the switch closet, eliminating an exposed power supply and extra wiring at the workspace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive, works well, March 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Network Jack 1port Power Overenet Midspan Solution (Personal Computers)
I use this with my Polycom IP 330 phone. Inexpensive and works well. This basically sends power to your PoE device (phone, in my case) using the ethernet data cable itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars POE Midspan Power Work Great But Currently Over-Priced, December 5, 2008
This review is from: Network Jack 1port Power Overenet Midspan Solution (Personal Computers)
I've used these for home network security cameras and found them to perform very well and exactly as specified. I got two of them on Amazon for $14.99 ea plus S&H a couple years ago and now they have myteriously doubled in price. These are not expensive to manufacture and could still sell today for that price if it were not for business buyers driving up the price by assuming the more expensive POE power supply devices must be more reliable.
