The Network+ Certification offered through CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, measures industry-standard knowledge of networking technology and practices for computer service technicians. With READINESS REVIEW, certification candidates can sharpen their test-taking skills, save time, and build their confidence for the real exam with the help of an exclusive interactive exam simulation on CD-ROM. Readers take randomly generated practice tests that cover actual Network+ exam objectives, testing and retesting with different question sets each time. The companion text provides explanations for all responses-right and wrong-and helps identify areas for further study.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Primer for the 2002 Network+ Exam, February 21, 2002

This review is from: Network+ Certification Readiness Review (Pro-Certification) (Paperback)
If you're looking for a simple way to guage whether or not you're ready for the Network+ exam, this book will definitely help. I decided to take the exam after 1 year of on and off exposure to work as a medium to large sized LAN technician. I figured I probably knew most of what was necessary for the exam, but wasn't sure. I picked up this book and spent a week going through it and taking the practice exams on the CD. I found I was solid on the Microsoft stuff and somewhat ignorant on the Mac, UNIX, Linux stuff. I was glad I picked up the book. I took the test today and passed with a comfortable 87%.

So, if you're not sure whether you're ready to take the exam, this is a good book to pick up. This book will not teach you everything you need to know, but it will certainly expose you to the topics you have to be familiar with. I combined the lessons in the book with some research on the internet, and I passed with one week's preparation. If you're completely new to networking, I would suggest buying a full-blown self-paced course. This book will not teach you everything (It doesn't claim to though).

My one and only criticism of this text is that it is a little Microsoft-centric. Please be aware that the Network+ exam covers Windows, UNIX, Linux, and Apple. The book tells you this, but it drops hints to get you to buy a copy of Windows 2000 Server.

Good Luck!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Network+ Objectives Breif Description, February 4, 2004
By

This review is from: Network+ Certification Readiness Review (Pro-Certification) (Paperback)
The day of the exam I read the paragraphs that were written about each set of objectives and passed the test with ease. I would say this book alone can get you to pass the exam if you are an intermediate to advanced networker. The book also gives reference to books you can read or activities you can do to support what you are learning. I gave this book a 4 out of 5 cause I did not look at any other books, so I cannot say this is the best. It was the best book out of the one I read though >;-o

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent problem scenarios, September 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Network+ Certification Readiness Review (Pro-Certification) (Paperback)
After you're all through and done reading your meat and potatoes Network+ study books. Test your exam preparedness by working your way through the questions in the Network+ Readiness Review book. If you have no problems with them, you are ready for the test. If not, the layout of the book provides you with the correct answers for each question and why they are so. The wrong answers are explained as well. I thought the network troubleshooting scenarios presented were practical and true to life which reflect well on the nature of some of the scenario questions you'll find on CompTIA's Network+ exam. By the way, each Readiness Review title corresponds to their meatier brother in the Training Kit series so the two go hand in hand. This is very evident because the Readiness Review provides only scant coverage on the topics and is primarily a question/answer book.
