Book Description

September 19, 1994
The Network Participant's Guide is for your personal journey through Network's Discovery sessions. It contains all the notes and assessments you will need to identify the three elements of your unique Servant Profile: Passion ('where' you're motivated to serve), Spiritual Gifts ('what' you're equipped to do), and Personal Style ('how' you can best serve). You will also understand God's design for the church and your role within it. Network is a dynamic program to help Christians understand who God has uniquely made them to be and mobilize them to a place of meaningful service in the local church. The participants are also taught the biblical nature and purpose of the church as the body of Christ and the unique importance of each member's contribution. Network works with any size group, from small groups of 4-12 to large groups of 15 to 150 or more. Network can be presented successfully in these different formats: 1. Four sessions of two hours each . . . 3. One-, two-, or three-day retreats 2. Eight sessions of 45 minutes each . . . 4. The one that works best for your church! Over 700,000 people have gone through Network in the last nine years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent material to determine your place in ministry., June 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Network Participant's Guide (Paperback)
The Network course is an excellent study in which to assess your passion, spiritual giftedness, and personal style in ministry. By determing your personal profile through the discovery of your passion in life, your spiritual gifts, and your personal style, you gain a clearer understanding about how God has uniquely created you. Your servant profile will assist you in better understanding in what area of ministry you might serve in your local church body (e.g., discipleship) and what role you might play in that area of ministry based upon your spiritual giftedness (e.g., shepherding/teaching) and personal style (people- v. task-oriented/ structured v. unstructured). This is the most thorough material I have seen to educate the believer in knowing and understanding his or her place in ministry; definning the spiritual gifts in the Bible and the manner in which those gifts contribute to the life of the body; and explaining why we should be motivated to serve.

4.0 out of 5 stars A practical guide for affirming personal ministry, April 5, 2000

This is a great guide for the seeker or believer who has a heart to serve and needs a process to explore their personal uniqueness. The servant profile of passion, spiritual gifts and personality is a simple yet effective framework for facilitating a person to find pertinent ministry outlets. Having experienced the process personally, I found the design and flow of the course to be especially good, from the video vignettes to the huddle groups to the gift affirmation process, in which you have others help give perspective to your gifts. I also found the immplementation and leadership materials to be quite helpful in proposing and putting to work a gift-based ministry design in the local church. The only downside to the Network gift-based approach MIGHT be the "modernist" flavor that permeates the material. If you identify more with "postmodern" perspectives you might find Rick Warren's SHAPE process a bit more resonating. Overall though, a very good book that has had a signifigant impact in how churches are designing ministries and placing volunteers for service....I heartily recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Network, October 4, 2005

The book was used for a class in spiritual gifts. This is the 2nd class that I've taken and if I didn't know what the gifts were and how they are used, I would not have received the information from the book. Not for new believers.
