5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent short book.
First of all have one thing clear, if you are not an expert in network, or already have a certification (like CNE or MCSE) don't buy only this book. This is a short book that only has sample test for you to feel confortable about the idea of taking the test. Also it is very good to find out where your weaknesses are. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but use with other study materials.
I just passed the Network + exam with a 94% using the Sybex Network + Study Guide, this book, and the NetG Networking Essentials course (I also work in the I.T. industry). The test was very straightforward - not a lot of extraneous information to wade through in the questions (unlike the questions in this book, which are more verbose). Practial experience is...

First of all have one thing clear, if you are not an expert in network, or already have a certification (like CNE or MCSE) don't buy only this book. This is a short book that only has sample test for you to feel confortable about the idea of taking the test. Also it is very good to find out where your weaknesses are. For example, I thought that I was clear on the OSI model, until I took the first test. I happens that I had data link and network layer mixed up at some level. So I went back to the other big book I bought (My main source of study, one that has about 800 pages) and read againt he OSI model. If I wouldn't have reviewed it, I would have probably fried out on the test. So all this BLA, BLA, BLA is let you know that you need a BIG BOOK (One that covers all the Network+ Objectives fully) and when you finish reading it, you get this book, sit down and try to answer all the question. When you make a mistake try to find out what went wrong, or what you didn't understand. Please slow down when reading, some questions can be tricky when not fully understood. Hope you pass the test.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Prep for the Exam!, November 24, 1999
This review is from: Network+ Practice Test Exam Cram (Paperback)
I used this book of questions and the Sybex Net+ book to prepare for the Net+ exam. I studied for 1 month, and passed with a 900! I highly recommend this book, for the price you get quality questions and explanations to help you pass the exam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get it to practice the test, December 8, 1999
This review is from: Network+ Practice Test Exam Cram (Paperback)
It is a good practice test book. I just get pass with this book and Exam Prep. I find the question is similar to, even same as the live exam. It is broad enough to cover the materials in the exam syllabus.

I would recommend 1)If you have get pass with other Cert. eg. MCSE, CNE etc., you can just need this book to pass the exam.

2)Otherwise, you may need this book and one preparation guide (Exam Prep - highly recommend) to help you to pass the exam.

This review is from: Network+ Practice Test Exam Cram (Paperback)
I just passed the Network + exam with a 94% using the Sybex Network + Study Guide, this book, and the NetG Networking Essentials course (I also work in the I.T. industry). The test was very straightforward - not a lot of extraneous information to wade through in the questions (unlike the questions in this book, which are more verbose). Practial experience is definitely an asset for this exam, especially in the troubleshooting and TCP/IP sections.

This book shouldn't be used as a primary study source - its basically a no-frills review tool. Use it with other, more fleshed out materials, or as a last review before the exam. There is a lot of repetition in the answer explanations - you will see the same information repeated over and over again, sometimes with more detail, sometimes less. While the explanations are basically good, the constant repetition ultimately makes the book appear to contain more hard information than it really does.

If you already have the Network+ Exam Cram book, your money would probably be better spent on another study aid, if only for a different viewpoint on the subject. Good luck!

Erik

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Almost Like Cheating, June 9, 2000
This review is from: Network+ Practice Test Exam Cram (Paperback)
Since the Network+ was my first cert, I was glad that I was able to get hold of this book to test out my knowledge as carefully as possible before taking a 185 buck test. As it turned out, the book was a great investment. The questions in this book were so similar to the one's on CompTIA's Network+ exam that it was almost like cheating. When I was in the testing centre, I got the feeling that I had already taken the exam that I had been given. I finished it in about 15 minutes since all the questions on the exam were ones that I had seen in this book. Well worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars ok..may be better if there is an updated edition, July 30, 2001

This review is from: Network+ Practice Test Exam Cram (Paperback)
I used this book to prepare for the Network+ exam. It was a good practice before I took the exam. However, you should not use that as an study guide or take the test even if you can answer most of the questions on the book. The scenario questions on this book is similar to the ones on the test, however, some of the questions on the book tend to be so easy that you can answer them with common sense because the wrong answers are so obvious that you would know the right one. One of the drawback of the book is that there are so many repeated questions among those chapters. This book is helpful but I believe you only have to get an used instead of a brand new one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect prep for the test!, April 26, 2000
This review is from: Network+ Practice Test Exam Cram (Paperback)
I used this book along with the Exam Prep & Exam Cram Network+ books and scored a 92% on the test! The tests are really good, and make sense especially the very helpfull explanations as to what was right and what was wrong. I wish Coriolis had a i-Net+ practice test book on the market right now, I could really use one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, January 24, 2000
This review is from: Network+ Practice Test Exam Cram (Paperback)
My average practice test score in this book was 88%, I took each of the five practice tests only once. My actual test score was 85%. I would say this book will give you an accurate indication of how you are progressing. The practice tests really helped me build confidence to take the test. Highly Reccomend!
