4.0 out of 5 stars It got me out the door
I thought it was a pretty good introduction with a lot of useful code. It doesn't have everything you could ask for, like RMI, but it did have a lot of talk about how to write UDP and TCP applications, what the difference is between broadcasting and multicasting, etc. It also had a pretty useful SMTP client that plugged right into my application.

The author just threw in examples of TCP and UDP programming however did not present any logic of why he does it that way. Moreover he does it wrong anyways. There is only one interesting chapter, the last one, abouty writing custom sockets for protocols other than TCP and UDP. The fonts are very big to cover up space, don't get fooled with the number of...

I thought it was a pretty good introduction with a lot of useful code.
