5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best "how to" book on Windows NT IPC, September 19, 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: Network Programming in Windows NT (Paperback)
Alok Sinha obviously knows his subject thoroughly. He covers all varieties of Inter Process Communications available in Windows NT, and includes examples of each kind, along with relative merits. He also covers which mechanisms are best suited for interoperation in various other environments (Novell, UNIX, etc). One of my favorite things about this book is that all examples are available free from the Addison-Wesley ftp site, along with recent updates and list of known errors in the book. If you are even considering creating Internet software for this important market, you need this book on your shelf. Even though I previously created my own Internet Email server for NT, I still found plenty of new and useful information

4.0 out of 5 stars Important book for network programming, April 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Network Programming in Windows NT (Paperback)
I found this book very straight forward and easy to read. It covers most that is needed to be known about IPC. Unfortunately it misses out some details in certain areas, but the rest of the information and examples make up for that. I found this book very useful to learn RPC, it seems to be the only good book for Client/Server applications around.
