Book Description

9810223056 978-9810223052 March 1996
Network scattering parameters are powerful tools for the analysis and design of HF and microwave networks. A review of the scattering parameters is given in this book with discussion of its applications in analysis of the stability, input and output reflection coefficients, power gains and other network parameters. The so-called generalized scattering parameters are introduced in later chapters. The aim of this book is to give a thorough working knowledge of scattering parameters and their applications in circuit analysis and design. To this end, numerous illustrative examples are given for every topic. The book should prove to be a useful companion to both students and lecturers in the field of HF and microwaves and optics, as well as practicing engineers.

5.0 out of 5 stars very detailed book on this important subject, April 2, 2009
This review is from: Network Scattering Parameters (Series on Applied Mathematics) (Hardcover)
I was looking for a good book for a long time which Deeply explaines how S-parameters work. There are lots of books on the market (RF and signal inetgrity), where this subject is shallowly mentioned, but this one helped me a lot in understanding.
I want to use S-parameters for digital interconnections and macromodelling, which is a littlebit different then its original use, and this way I needed something different than the original viewing angle of this subject, which is antenna systems where everything is perfectly 50 ohm terminated as the most basic requirement. On digital circuits, it is normally not possible, so we have to deal with it (different reference impedances, ref.imp. transformation...). Traditional RF books slip through these details.
On the Si-list and other forums/mailing-lists people (me too) keep asking questions that are (at least partly) explained here and not explained in usual RF or SI books.
One remark is that the book was dirty. They replaced it to me for a nother diry one. It was published a very long time ago, and probably was not too polular, so they kept it in a basement or dirty warehouse. Anyway, it was worth buying and reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is a must for RF and Microwave designer, October 8, 2006
This review is from: Network Scattering Parameters (Series on Applied Mathematics) (Hardcover)
This book entails great detail and good treatment of s parameters. It goes into depth analysis of how S parameters derived. This is the only book to my knowledge dedicated to inly S parameters.
