Practical
The only book in networking which combines theory and practice Excelent for self-instruction.No experience in networking is required to master this text.

Good book but pretty basic
The book was a good book but had a lot of basic information in it and a lot of the information was dated. Good beginning book.

I had the priviledge of taking a class from the author of this book. It's the most comprehensive look at networking a beginner could ever hope to find. If you want to learn a lot about networking and cut a lot of the fat, this book is for you.

It provides basic knowledge of computer networks up to advanced concepts in Ethernet networks and routers, covering everything from theory to installation and protection issues. Net-challenge software provides a simulated, hands-on experience in such exercises, and the protocol analyzer software included with the text uses demos to reinforce written examples. A winning classroom text indeed.
