Voici le premier album solo de Anthony reynolds, ancien chanteur auteur compositeur de Jack et Jacques.
Il y a une vraie injustice pour cet homme: il est a mon sens le meilleur compositeur pop depuis david Bowie, ses albums sont emprunts de poésie, ses textes, idem, et sa voix, quelle voix splendide, identifiable des la premiere seconde d'écoute de n'importe quelle morceau, mais il vends malheureusement trop peu de disques!!
Bon pour revenir a cet album, certains risquent d'etre surpris tellement on est loin des violons automnaux des trois premiers albums de jack, meme si le dernier album laissait entrevoir, deja, une orientation differente.
Comme pour tous les albums majeurs, il faut plusieurs écoutes avant de se laisser absorber par la délicatesse musicale et la noirceur des textes! Cet album solo semble avoir été réalisé de facon presque artisanale, quelques démos de ci de la se mélangent subtilement avec des titres a la production nickel!
Les titres sont tres differents les uns des autres, et tous , oui tous, vont parvenir a vos oreilles grandes ouvertes avec une euphorie comme rarement un album vous aura fait atteindre ce degré de plaisir!!
Mes trois titres préférés: my machiavellian girl, drugs are my drugs et the sad streets!!!!

Anthony Reynolds can sing like no other! Great songs on this album... Check it out if you like The Tindersticks, Nick Cave, etc... "Jack" were one of the best British bands of the late 90s, and now Anthony has gone solo, but the songs are really some of the best materials he's ever written! Great album! Five stars!

"lush life','sad streets',the epics are here,as well as the torturously beautiful,
reflective songs: 'if july were a kingdom','dear melvyn'. add to that ,a few truly inspired, avant-pop pieces......what we've got here is a knockout of a record.

nobody sounds like Reynolds. we're talking bona fide original. his singing. the sound of his voice. that amazing vocal delivery.

normally,I'm loathe to make 'comparisons',however............for all those casually reading this review(and I hope there are a number of ye!)..if you like/care about Scott Walker or any of the golden-throated crooners of past n' present.......you
need to own the music of Anthony.

bold ? maybe. but I'm talking more about the feeling you get listening to this record(*make that: any of his records!).......stop reading. go buy it. . tell those you care about. spread the magic.
