Best review book I've used so far,

I've bought a lot of the neurology board review books (Neurology for the Boards, Ultimate Review for the Neurology Boards, Neurology Oral Boards Review), and in my opinion this is the best review text I've seen. The illustrations are an especially helpful complement to the book. It's a little pricey but I'd definitely recommend it.

Good book but NOT a boards review book,
By The happy resident "Lraj" (san diego, ca) - See all my reviews

I ordered this book to review for my neurology boards because of all the positive reviews on amazon. This book is a nicely illustrated and extremely thorough review of neurology. However, it is in no way a review book for boards. It has almost one thousand pages and very few questions. There are some bulleted points in blue boxes but very few. As a result, there is very little attention paid to focusing study on board review. If you buy this book a year before the test and use it as a reference text then it will serve you well. However, a more classical neurology text would serve the same purpose. If you are looking for a focused text to use for three months of studying, I dont recommend this one.

best book-review,
This review is from: Neurology Board Review: An Illustrated Study Guide (Hardcover)
It is the best"review" book. There is no good "question" book available.Old rites are probably the best for now. I am happy with the topics/coverage and content. It is how you read a topic that really makes you a good or bad test taker. But images/salient points are good. I would give 5 stars to this book only because it is the best available. I would suggest that a companian question book should be published

Bought one for the office. Loved the ability to review topics quickly. Illustrations and pictures do help. Will buy another to keep at home.

Advantages: You have everything in one book - text, diagrams, and images (including path slides). It's nice to be able to see everything in one chapter instead of referencing separate neurorads and neuropath books. There is a lot of information so it lends itself to more or less detailed studying.Disadvantages: It's not really a review book...it's a condensed textbook. After having taken boards, I think it's excessive and way more information than you really need. The questions at the end of the chapter are few and not well written. I also think it completely loses the big picture. For example, it lists the clinical details of all 20-something Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophies but desn't just say, LGMD1 are dominant , occur later, progress slower and LGMD2 are recessive, present earlier, and progress faster. It leaves you to synthesize the information into something useful and meaningful. Unfortunately, this is probably the best book out there but realistically, it's not a good review book. It's more like a textbook and reference book rather than a review book. It just throws a bunch of information at you without highlighting what's really important for boards.

Great Book,

I didnt finish this book yet but its easy to use and not like other review books, that are written in poor way and lacking any kind of diagrams or pictures, this one is full of very helpful images and diagrams. Also the questions in the end of each chapter are very good.I think the only reason I didnt give this book 5 stars is simply I didnt take the exam yet,so I dont know how far it will be sufficiant in the Neurology board exam.

Excellent Review Book for Written Boards,
By

I found the book very organized & to the point. The subheadings are surely an added point. I had almost read once another review book when this book came out. I am glad that I switched. Would recommend strongly for written boards.

Improve your scores with this book,

I improved from low 70s to high 80s with this book studied over four months. Plan and go through its minutiae, and do Souyaeeh's questions, which will seem incredibly easy afterwards. This book's authors suggest using it well in advance. They are correct. Buy it, use it the way it should be used, and enjoy it.
