4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Neurology Boards
Boards are zebras in action and no one deals with 'common topics' anymore. This book, therefore, emphasizes the commonly uncommon that need to be crammed just for the exams.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lots of bones- not much meat
This book is pretty much just an outline of neurology topics without much information/detail. It's not a book to "read" or even to prepare you, it might be useful as a book to identify areas you need to review. I didn't find it very useful for specialty board or in-service exam review.

3.0 out of 5 stars No focus - too much information, January 27, 2006
This review is from: Neurology for the Boards (Paperback)
This book - basically a large outline of neurology topics - is too broad, without focus and not an ideal way to prepare for the boards (even though it seems to be the most popular book out there). I used some of the old Rite exam questions and a few question/answer books as well - much more helpful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Neurology for the Boards 3rd Edition, May 19, 2008
It was less explanatory than I thought. It is a TRUE review book which assumes you know all this massive material and just lists it out in a nice format.

2.0 out of 5 stars concise, but incomplete and sometimes inaccurate information, April 15, 2004
This review is from: Neurology for the Boards (Paperback)
This book contains some high yield topics for the Neurology boards, but it is incomplete. There is a large number of important topics not included in this book. I am unable to find a great deal of difference between the two editions. Most disturbing is the number of mistakes that I have picked up by reviewing other texts as I was going through the book, some very obvious and not corrected in the second edition. This book is a good investment, but should not be the only reference used for studying for the boards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Crammed full of Neurology, June 10, 2003

This review is from: Neurology for the Boards (Paperback)
This is a review book for Neurology. It is written in an outline form. It tries to be comprehensive, but fails to review any psychology (which is 33-40% of the boards). It has some nice tables and basic schematics, but no real illustrations or pictures of imaging. Since there are no real review books aside from this one, it fills the void well.

There is a second edition of this book avilable in the market with some chapters revised and some new ones added, released in 2002.
you don't take the risk of going to the boards inadequately prepared or with older information.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent review text!, May 28, 2002
By A Customer
This book is an excellent review text for the neurology in-service exam, board exam or re-certification exam. Additionally, it is helpful as a quick reference for neurologic conditions. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST BUY !, December 3, 2004
This review is from: Neurology for the Boards (Paperback)
Excellent preparatory material for the Neurology Boards, put together by a distinguished panel of Neurology Chief Residents. Recommend to anybody interested in taking part-I of the Neurology Boards.

If you are interested in Neurology Board review software, two softwares to consider are Neurology Boards 1.0 (for part-1 of the Neurology Boards) and Neurology Tutor 1.0 (for part-2 of the Neurology Boards). Both softwares are freely downloadable from www.peakdoctor.org

1.0 out of 5 stars not helpful for the boards, April 5, 2009
the way the information is presented makes it difficult to assimilate and retain. I did not find it relevant to the neurology board exam I took.
