"Drs. Love and Webb have made the language of the neurologist understandable to speech pathologists." -- Howard S. Kirshner, MD, from the Foreword

From the Publisher

This clear and concise introduction to the neurology of speech and language mechanisms in children and adults has been updated to include flowcharts for the auditory system and the cerebellar pathways, new information on the embryological development of the nervous system, and new sections on pervasive developmental disorders and cognitive-linguistic disorders. Designed for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students, as well as the working speech-language pathologist, this text emphasizes the neurological mechanisms involved in communication disorders seen in clinical practice. This classic text will enable you to gain a better understanding of the neuroanatomy, neurology, and neuropsychology underlying a wide range of neurogenic communication disorders.

Drs. Love and Webb have taken an incredibly complex topic and defuzzified it. Their neurological insights are clear, concise, and accurate. Moreover, they have an very "user-friendly" means of disseminating their knowledge to the reader. As a consequence, the reader is armed with useful, practical clinical information rather than overwhelmed with bits of theoretical jibberish. Each edition of this book represents a systematic continuation of their scholarly pursuits. Clearly, these authors have set the gold standard of neurological information in speech-language pathology.

This book was a suggested to me from a expert Speech Path. She had the 2nd edition version and found it to be a great resource that she used almost daily in her practice. I purchased this edition and I LOVE it!! I have used it quite a few times as a reference for my neurology class and as a source in papers. This book is very easy to understand and use for students. I wouldn't recommend this book to be used a "main" textbook in class - there it isn't quite as in depth but it does help to explain things in an easier way.

This text book is terrible for beginning neurology. The definitions and explanations are incomplete and often confusing. The illustrations are unhelpful and also confusing. I would not recommend this book to anyone!

I got this book as a text book for school. I saved a lot of money and it was in perfect condition.

This is a wonderful text. The subject is heady, but if you are an SLP or SLPA looking for more neuro-knowledge, I recommend this text for additional reading. Of course, if it's a course-assigned text, you don't have a choice, right? :-)
