You must have this book!,
By Dan Scute "Hooty Man" (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Neurosurgical Intensive Care (Paperback)
This is the best possible book for the neurosurgeon, or neurosurgical trainee, who deals with complex neuro ICU issues on a daily basis. Simply the most comprehensive, easy to use pocket-sized book that is out there on this topic today.

I think the above reviews are somewhat misleading in that this is a good, but not a great book. It is helpful to junior residents taking care of NICU patients but if you have Greenberg's handbook and the Marino ICU book then you really don't need this book. As an aside, this book was written primarily by D.O. residents from one program.

Too general.,

The format of the book is not detailed in the way other ICU books are. This book spends too much time discussing topics that don't help residents learn the fundamentals and nuances of the neurosurgical ICU patient. More dedicated space to the evolving research in the areas of management would make it more high impact and permanent on resident book shelves.

As a teacher and neurosurgical intensivist,I ponder at the end of each day one book I could tell my Master of Neurosurgery(University Sains Malaysia) residents to read!?.Well, now the problem is solved. We have a book that is non bulky, easy to read and digest, has recent information and inexpensive.Read this book, you will use it daily....needs to be chained to the Neuro ICU central nurses table...because it is so popular it might just walk off.
