Neutrogena Advanced Solutions At Home MicroDermabrasion System

I was at Target last weekend looking at this product. There was a woman right next to me that noticed me putting it back on the shelf and walking away. She stopped me and told me that she was using it and it worked really well. She had a great deal of discoloration on her face - probably sun damage (I wish now I had asked). But I noticed much of it was peeling off, revealing smooth, pink skin. She told me that was a direct result of the micro-dermabrasion kit. With every use, she could see more and more of the discoloration fading. She went on and on about how wonderful this was and eventually her husband came looking for her. When he overheard her talking to me, he chimed in and also had many great things to say about it. He assured me he had seen a remarkable improvement in his wife's skin since she started using it.

So I decided it was worth a try. I don't have sun damage or hardly any wrinkles yet, but I do have a lot of red and pink scars or marks left behind from acne. Not pitting, just discoloration. I was hoping this system would help diminish the appearance of these marks.

Well, I'm happy to report that it does. I've used it six times now and I have seen those marks fade dramatically. Yippee!!!

However, I feel obliged to mention that I've not followed the directions to a T. I had been using Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle/Anti-Blemish cream for quite some time with very positive results. This cream contains Retinal and Salicylic Acid. The directions for the Micro-Dermabrasion kit said that you should discontinue use of these products while using it. Well, I couldn't bear the thought of parting with this miracle cream since it had done so much for me, so I decided to try using it the morning after the micro-dermabrasion and it didn't bother me. So the next night I put it on right after I was finished and it still didn't bother me. So I've kept using Retinal and Salicylic Acid - against their advice, but it's been working really well for me. But I need to mention that I do not have sensitive skin at all. In fact, I've continue using Proactiv cleanser in the shower, which has a very similar texture as the Micro Dermabrasion cream so it exfoliates much the same way. In addition, it contains Benzoyl Peroxide. And yet my skin still has not had an adverse reaction. Quite the opposite in fact. Furthermore, I've used the micro-dermabrasion kit more often than recommended. The first two nights I used it as directed. But on days three and four, I used it in the morning as well as before bed. I can't help but think that continued use of my favorite products in addition to the micro-dermabrasion twice a day has been the reason why I've seen such dramatic improvement in my skin's texture and appearance. My skin hasn't looked this good since before I hit puberty - and I'm a ripe 38 years now!

But I strongly recommend following the directions from Neutrgena initially. Wait and see how your skin reacts and ease into a more aggressive skin-care routine gradually so you can see how much your own skin can withstand. Good luck!

I'm a guy, and tried this out of boredom.. I've hit my 30's and am doing whatever I can to stay looking young. Nothing wrong with that, right? ;)

Anyway, I tried it the first week and felt my skin was noticeably softer and smoother. It also appeared a bit pinker than before I started. I assume it is because there is more circulation of blood to my skin then before. I will expect the improvements to continue, as others have mentioned on the internet.

As for the equipment, the applicating tool is very good quality. Solid design, easy hold, and very quiet. When you put it against your face the vibrations will take getting used to. I use a cybersonic toothbrush and am used to the vibrations and humming you'll experience throughout your head. Perhaps that is what the person was talking about who said this unit is loud.. But realistically, it is relatively quiet, not loud by any means.. For you homophobes, you can use it in the closet and not be scared of your girlfriend walking in on you ;) LOL...

Anyway, the lotion is gritty like fine sandpaper, but doesn't feel at all harsh on the skin when using it. I enough is provided to get the results you're looking for.

The unit comes with two sponge heads, the applicator, the applicator stand, the microdermabrasion lotion, and two AA batteries. A fine product. I bet if black and decker makes one guys will buy it ;P

I wasn't expecting such fantastic results but had thought that this *might* help with my acne. It ranges from mild to moderate depending on the climate. I've tried Proactive (which doesn't work for me or any family members).

However I guess proper exfoliation is the key because not only has my face completely cleared up but my overall skin tone is glowing and amazing. Skin I had previously thought was unattainable to me. I've also seen definate fading of the scars from years and years of breakouts.

So while it doesn't advertise that it could help treat acne, if you think about it, acne is due to pores clogged with sebum and dead skin cells so proper GENTLE exfoliation is critical.

I have *very* sensitive skin and find that this does not irritate my skin at all. And I can rarely buy anything right off the shelf and not break out from it.

I am also steaming my face and using clay masks alternately on days that I don't microderm.

It's also easy to clean and will be much cheaper to maintain than it's similar as-seen-on-TV counter part.

So five big fat shiny stars. Try it. Get it from a place with a good return policy so you can get your money back if it doesn't agree with you.

I was doubtful about this product as well, but wanted to give it a try. At first let me say that just the facial massage is pleasant and then the feel of your skin after just the first couple times is so soft and smooth. I've let my face rest a week and now am into the 2-3 times a week mode. My pores are smaller, my face is smoother and I do notice that my skin is glowing. I am anxious to see if continued use helps small lines go away. I am 47 and have never used anything on my skin that I felt worked like this. I was using the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle cream before this and liked it. The cream contains retinol and they suggest not to use a retinol product with the microdermabrasion system, but I hated to stop using the cream and so I have continued to do so, luckily for me with no skin irritation. I find that using the system at night before bed for about 5 minutes is all I need. Also let me add that this doesn't have a strong smell, it is almost scentless. I tried another brand of microdermabrasion previous to this and the smell of the product stayed on my face all day and became sickening.

I would endorse this product, it's great. But use it for yourself and how it makes your skin and face feel. We all notice the minor flaws we have but other people don't, and they probably won't notice the difference in the improvement of your skin as you do either.

A 44-year old woman who is trying to maintain her youthful appearance as long as possible writes this review. I have been using the L'Oreal Refinish Microdermabrasion product and wanted to give this one a try. It has some good points and some not so good points. I have summarized my observations of this product below:

Pros:
1. I love the vibrating application tool, which has two different intensity settings (it is a pleasure to apply the cream to your face)
2. The tool also helps to relieve tension headaches, which I did not anticipate
3. The product is very mild with little grit, which would be excellent for younger skin that doesn't need much assistance
4. Cream has very little scent
5. I could feel a small difference after the first application
6. My skin showed no reddening after application

Cons:
1. The L'Oreal Refinish Microdermabrasion product is more effective at changing the texture of my older skin.

Overall I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a mild microdermabrasion product. If I had purchased this product 5 years ago (at age 39) it would probably have been adequate to achieve the desired result at that time. However, by age 44 I find that a little more "abrasion" is required to reveal the youthful skin hidden by the "aged" skin.

I really liked this product. I am a late 30's woman whose skin is basically pretty good. I have occasional mild breakouts and some blackheads, but even before I bought the Neutrogena microdermabrasion I would receive compliments on how smooth my skin is. But around age 35 I looked in the mirror and realized my skin was getting that middle-age dullness to it. Unwilling to pay for a professional microdermabrasion, I decided to try the Neutrogena at home system.

The Neutrogena Microdermabrasion cream is easy to apply. The cream had the slightest pleasant smell, and was not sticky at all. I used well less than a teaspoon, so a little goes a long way. It was no problem to rinse it off my face with water, and the sponge was very easy to clean as well. The treatment took me less than 10 minutes, fit in easily to my bedtime routine, and after the initial start-up treatments you only need to do it a couple times a week.

My skin definitely felt softer, smoother and more invigorated. I could notice a difference after only one treatment. But the real proof came from the way my husband did a double take a couple days later and commented that I looked younger. (He didn't know about the microdermabrasion.) And even my 6 year old daughter told me my face looked pretty. There was a clear and noticeable difference--after only a few treatments my middle-aged dull skin had definitely gotten back some of its youthful glow, and the few large pores I have did appear smaller.

Being lazy, I have not incorporated it into my regular routine like I should, but I do pull it out a few days before special occasions, vacations, or anytime I feel the need for a little brightening up, and will definitely always keep it on hand.

If you have particularly sensitive skin, this may not be a great product for you, as it is a bit, well, abrasive. For me, it was a painless process, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to give their skin a more youthful glow.

I have sensitive skin but this product did not irritate it. I will continue to use this product but will be careful to avoid a repeat of common eye problem that was pretty painful as set forth below.

About 4 a.m. today I awoke with pain in one eye and the feeling that something was in it. After checking a lighted magnifying mirror and finding nothing, I sat around with water running out, then was at the eye dr at 8 when his office opened.

The eye dr removed from under the upper lid one of the small round particles that are in the cream. He said he has a case like this about every 6 weeks since home microdermabrasion became popular.

To avoid this, do a very thorough splashing (not rubbing!) of the face to remove the cream and THEN rub your eyebrows, edges of your hairline around your face and your eyelashes to make sure none of the tiny beads are left. One was left somewhere on my face and then in the night ended up in my eye. The tiny beads in these products do NOT dissolve like the beads in some older scrubs did.

I thought this would be another waste of money, but I saw and felt results after the very first use. I can't even explain how wonderful my skin felt. I am more than pleased with this item and will continue using it faithfully. I have dark patches on my face and they are gradually disappearing. Nothing else I have ever tried even came close to fading them. I would recommend this to anyone looking for better facial appearance.

This is truly an amazing product. It cleans and revitalizes my face like nothing out there. First, it gets rid of all the gunk in my pores including blackheads. Never before have had such clean, clear pores. Second, it helps with sun damage and overall look of your complexion. My face really looks younger and more glowing every time I use it.

Finally, it only takes 5 minutes or so. The directions say to do this 2 minutes on each area of the face. So I do it for about 5 minutes and cover all of my face. There's no need to overdo it - in fact, I've read it's bad to overexfoliate so just limit to 5-10 minutes on your whole face and you're on your way to a new you!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Wow, what a bargain price for this complete system! I bought this unit a year ago and absolutely love it. It's a complete system, a battery operated massager with two speeds, a jar of micro derm crystals (plenty enough for over 1 dozen facials), and replacement pads for the massager! After just a few minutes of application of the crystals, you'll experience INSTANT results in the smoothness of your skin. With very gently pressure, the crystals will polish your skin and dead skin cells away, revealing fresh and silky smooth skin! The hardest place to microderm is my nose, on low, the tickle is so intense it's all I can do not to laugh or itch my nose! The process is in no way painful like what I expected! Replacement jars of micro crystals pads are easily found at Walmart or any drugstore or also here on Amazon if you don't mind waiting for shipping. I use my system weekly to maintain my complexion. I've also bought this unit for Christmas exchanges and it's also the gift the women fight over...it's always such a good feeling to know you bought the wanted gift! If ever my unit gives up, I'll buy another one just like it. Highly recommended!
