3.0 out of 5 stars Gets everything off
I haven't tried many make-up removers before, I usually just go with soap and water. These weren't too bad. They removed all my make-up, including mascara and eyeliner. I didn't get that raccoon look that you usually get when you try to remove mascara, which was great.

I travel for a living, and schlepping my skin-care products through TSA security lines can be a hassle. Enter the Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Towelettes!

In a nutshell: These things simply work. They're pre-moistened so you don't need water, and they take off your makeup in one shot-- waterproof mascara and eternal-wear lipstick, too. No scrubbing, no irritation; only happy, soft skin.

Best of all: These contain moisturizers so your skin isn't all tight, but they don't leave your skin feeling like an Exxon Valdez victim either.

This specific product is the refill pack, which would (hypothetically) be placed into a plastic blue vanity box in your bathroom... though, for my purposes, tossing this resealable pack into my suitcase is just fine.

The packs are resealable which is nice, it keeps the towelettes moist. The thing I didn't like about them was as another reviewer remarked, they do leave a slight film on your face. An almost greasy feeling. Also, if I got any of it in my eyes, they would slightly burn.

I always did a thorough rinse with water after using them, which took the residue off, but the fact that it left the residue (and slightly irritated my eyes), is what made me give this product 3 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorites; move along Almay, December 21, 2010

I've used the Almay makeup remover pads (the ones in the small round container) for years. And they have slowly gotten more expensive. So for awhile I switched to gauze pads and an eye-makeup remover solution. Eh - it worked, but I didn't love it like I did the Almay pads. Then, I stumbled across the Neutrogena makeup remover cleansing towelettes. I'm hooked. They are big enough that you can wash your entire face with them and still have a section available to take off your eye makeup (waterproof liner and mascara!) They have a wonderful lavender smell. (I suppose if you don't like lavender you may not like these.) I gave one to my daughter one night because I wanted her to try a new eyeliner, and she came back later and said, "can I have some of those for Christmas?" I will admit they are not cheap. But, the 2 pack of 25 means it lasts me 2 months (there are usually at least a couple days I go without makeup), and I get them on the Subscribe & Save, so it's an even better deal. I like how soft these leave my face, without that sticky or greasy feeling many of the other facial cleaners have. I keep these sitting in my basket next to the couch, take off my makeup as I am finishing up work emails for the night, then rinse my face with water when I go to bed. Great item - very happy I found it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Convenient but drying, July 23, 2011
This review is from: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, Refill Pack, 25 Count (Misc.)
These are very handy, and seem to take off the majority of my makeup, but not all. If you have normal to oily skin they are probably great. My skin is more on the dry side, and I found that after I used these for a few days my skin became even more dry and it began to sting when I used them. Now I keep them for airplane travel or camping, but I wouldn't use them on a daily basis with dry skin.

3.0 out of 5 stars Probably ok, just not for me, January 19, 2007
I don't want to give this product a bad review simply because I have very fickle skin, and while this product didn't work for me, it may work very well for others. It does an adequate job removing makeup, however, I did find it didn't always completely remove mascara (regular mascara -I don't wear water-proof). I also didn't care for the 'film' it left on my face. Every time I used it, I ended up washing my face lightly with Cetaphil afterwards because I just couldn't leave it, even though the package says there's no need to rinse your face. It also tends to make my eyes goopey feeling - like there's something in them - reminds me of the old days when you used Vaseline to remove eye makeup. Fogged up my eyes everytime! I have to stick with "oil free" products, and this clearly is not oil free. I should have known this, but badly wanted this product to work for me!

So, after writing this, I have to say, don't take my word for it. I highly recommend Neutrogena products - I just can't recommend this one because of the above reasons.

4.0 out of 5 stars Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes from Amazon, February 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I chose the Neutrogena towelettes because they're alcohol and paraben-free and safe for eye makeup removal. They're great for cleansing on days when I don't wear makeup, but I find that there's a lot less tugging on the delicate eye area if I loosen mascara first with a cream-to-oil makeup remover and then use a towelette.

Pleasant scent, large enough to clean the whole face. Wish there was a more reliable way to re-seal the package, but the towelettes stayed moist despite sealing issues. Delivery from Amazon was prompt, well-packaged.

3.0 out of 5 stars These towelettes are good for the face, but not for the eyes., February 5, 2012

This review is from: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, Refill Pack, 25 Count (Misc.)
I'm a huge makeup/beauty/skincare fan and have tried products from dozens of different brands. Before these wipes, I had used MAC and Estee Lauder makeup cleansing towelettes. I loved them both, but saw these Neutrogena ones for a great price here on Amazon so picked up a pack. I wasn't expecting much from these wipes, as I use a pretty heavy-duty longwear foundation (Double Wear by Estee Lauder) but surprisingly they did take off a decent amount of my face makeup. I believe that removing your makeup and actually washing your face are two separate steps. So even though it didn't take off 100% of my foundation I was okay with that as I always follow up by washing my face with a cleanser. My face didn't feel overly clean after using them, but I wasn't expecting it to. I think that will have a lot to do with the kind of makeup you use.

The pack says that these wipes can even remove "waterproof mascara" but to be honest, I wouldn't recommend using these towelettes on your eyes at all. I hardly have sensitive eyes, but these burned so much that my eyes were watering for quite some time after. I ended up using a standard dual-action eyemakeup remover on a cotton pad instead of these on my eyes. Ouch. :(

The wipes were neither over-saturated nor overly dry. The pack has a resealable sticker that has held up so far and keeps the wipes moist.

I rated them 3/5 because though they're not perfect, at the sale price I paid for them I was satisfied. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well but not perfect, August 17, 2011

This is one of the better makeup remover towelettes I've tried. It gets my make-up off easily with the exception of my waterproof mascara. I also wear a gel eyeliner and it takes it off after several wipes which is better than most other towelettes. Overall, I recommend it but my husband isn't a fan of the smell. I don't mind but when I use this at night and go to bed, he comments every time that it smells.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works, removes all types of make-up., August 16, 2011

This review is from: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, Refill Pack, 25 Count (Misc.)
So I am one of those women who love to fall asleep with my make-up on. My skin hate me for this. I tried these as a quick and easy solution for this. I wear a full face of make-up to work everyday along with waterproof mascara. This is the only cleansing wipe I have found that will take off waterproof mascara, gel blusher, and 18 hour lipstick with one wipe.

I use one side of the wipe for the face and flip is over to take off my eye make-up. After that I rinse my face with cool water and pat dry. You don't have to do this, it is my personal preference though.
