Several people I know use this product, and the one I have been using does not seem to be doing anything so I thought I would try Neutrogena.

I bought this product locally but my experience was SO VERY severe that I thought I would warn others. I am an adult and obviously I've been washing my face my entire life, so it is fair to say I know how to do it. Every now and then when we as people shower, wash our face or hair a little bit of product may get in one's eyes. It is not a common or regular occurence, but if this happens, people generally expect a little sting and then after flushing out the eyes with water, relief should follow. That was NOT my experience.

I had been using the product for about one year and a half without incident but one day, for the first time, I accidentally got some in my eyes--it rinsed down from my forehead in the shower. My eyes began burning so I tried to rinse them using the shower. The burning merely increased and it got to the point where I could barely see and the scratchiness from the beads was preventing me from being able to move my eyes to even look side to side. The beads would NOT rinse out and were lodged under my lids. I was afraid I was going blind. It was so severe that I needed an ambulance and the paramedics worked quickly and diligently to get the foaming beads out of my eyes--foam was leaking from my eyes--I literally could not see. I was then brought to the hospital to make sure there was no permanent injury to my cornea. The chemicals in the face cleanser made it so that my eyes would not produce tears for 2 weeks--I had to use artificial tears to moisten my eyes and the surrounding skin itched like hell. Thankfully, I suffered no permanent damage.

If this stuff gets into your eyes, DO NOT splash in the sink and DO NOT try to flush it out in the shower. It could lodge the beads under your lids (like it did to me).

This product caused by skin to break out the next morning after I used it. My skin is now red and there are tiny whiteheads all around my mouth and chin. It's disgusting. I called my dermatologist and she said it was junk (I normally use a prescription face wash but I was using this as a replacement until I refilled my prescription). She recommended that I use Cortizone 1% twice a day and LOTS of moisturizer because my skin will peel. It's definitely helping, the whiteheads are gone, but my skin is still very red and blotchy. I called Neutrogena and the woman was very nice and said that this is not typical of their product. However, I have seen several reviews of this product describing the same thing that happened to me. She did refund the product and said she would send coupons as well. Definitely would not recommend!

I used this product for two days, twice a day as recommended. By the second day, my face felt like it was burning, like my face was sunburnt. I kept moisturizing, thinking it was because it was cold and windy outside. And then the next day my upper eyelids started swelling up, my face continued to hurt and felt extremely dry, and my eyes were all dried out. Now, my lower eyelids are swollen too. I feel like my eyes are just slowly going to swell shut. I've seen other people's posts about the exact same reaction. I'm not allergic to anything so I was quite terrified when this started happening. I didn't know what it was and didn't think it was the scrub since I couldn't rationalize why my eyes would swell up from using a facial soap. After I saw other people's same reactions, I calmed down a bit and am hoping it will go away. I will never ever use Neutrogena product again. It has been a terrifying and painful experience to say the least.

I used the old formula for years after my doctor specifically recommended it. However, the new formula contains menthol which causes a painful burning sensation, especially on my lips and eyelids when I rinse it off. The new fragrance smells like Raid Ant and Roach Killer.

No responsible doctor would recommend menthol for blemished skin, yet Neutrogena still includes "Dermatologist Recommended" on the label. In fact, topical menthol products such as Bengay contain a warning not to use on damaged skin.

I thought this product was going to be wonderful. I love my Neutrogena makeup, which has microclear in it. I thought this would be a great addition since it has the same technology and would smell great. I was horribly wrong. I used it twice and it burned and dried out my face. Now I have a red, itchy, flaking, somewhat swollen face and I'm starting to break out worse than ever! It burns when I put lotion on to try to moisturize. I hope this is over soon. I will be sticking with my St. Ives face wash from now on.

The product is horrible. It dries the skin in a horrible way, after just 3 uses my skin is suffering, it hurts, it is dry and I am struggling to re-hydrate and bring it back to the original state. Do not buy this product. I struggle with acne occasionally, mainly because of pore block due to make up. My skin is medium oily and I don't have product allergies. I am very versatile when it comes to cosmetics, but this product is absolutely terrible. Although it has 2% Salicylic Acid (just like Clearasil for example), it has another ingredient that makes the skin EXTREMELY dry and flaky. It literally hurts when I touch my skin. Forget about the acne, forget about your skin as well, when using this product.
