I live in Southern California and was given this product as a gift. I finally pulled it out of my cupboard one day during the fall when the very dry Santa Ana winds start kicking up and drying my skin out. Sometimes I get so dry on my legs that even moving around becomes uncomfortable. I started using this and after a few days I was amazed at the difference it made. No more discomfort. I just use it when showering everyday and I don't even have to moisturize afterward. For some reason, this stuff seems to deep condition my skin much better than skin lotion which would only provide me with temporary relief. I never expected such effectiveness and highly recommend it especially during the dry times of the year. To be honest, I only use it during the dry seasons.

I no longer stand by the above review since Neutrogena reportedly changed their "original" version of this product. I moved away from SoCal and no longer needed it. But I just returned and find I need it again only to read in the other Amazon reviews that the "original formula" has been changed. I had previously tried out their blue-colored version years ago and found it did not have the same positive effect on my dry legs so I threw it out. I was really annoyed about it because I didn't expect the scent change to make a difference in the deep moisturizing effect. This product is too expensive for me to try and probably throw away another big bottle until I hear Neutrogena has changed the fake "original" back to the true "ORIGINAL".

Neutrogena has altered the scent of its "Refreshing" aka Classic Rainbath formula, probably in an attempt to make the product more appealing to women. What was once a clean, soft and slightly musk fragrance has been replaced with a sweet, grapefruit-citrus fragrance with a floral character. Compared to the product I've used for over 20 years, this Rainbath smells different when you use it and when you rinse it off - now the fragrance left behind after rinsing is flowery and powder-sweet, not clean. It has some of the character of the old fragrance, but is considerably changed, so much so that I suspect most men who used it previously, as I did, won't be using it anymore. I have not confused this product with their other, "Revitalizing" scent, which has a pronounced grapefruit fragrance. This is their so-called Classic, but it is no longer classic. Why couldn't Neutrogena roll out a new variety, rather than ruining an old and popular one? Wanted to let everybody know so you wouldn't waste your time and money buying something that isn't what you expect.

Update 12/09: Called Neutrogena twice (long story) about the formula change. The CSRs avoided the topic of "formula change" as if they'd received training in enduring torture. In other words, they would not admit that the formula is changed. What they would say is, "We're sorry you don't like the fragrance." Then they asked me to describe the fragrance, and what I thought of it. They asked many in-depth questions about it, like, "Would you describe the fragrance as being 'classic'?" "Would you describe it as luxurious?" "Describe what you smell," etcetera. I asked them in reply, "Why didn't you do market research before you launched the product?" Then, without my even requesting it, they offered me a cash refund for the product I'd bought (I've already received the check). The best part was when one CSR accidentally started to say "How would you describe the new--I mean, how would you describe the fragrance of the product?" It's clear that Neutrogena has made the decision to deliberately deceive its customers by rolling out this product while claiming they haven't altered it. Along with the check, Neutrogena sent me a $20 coupon for any product, but there's nothing I want.

This shower and bath gel makes you feel fabulous. The scent in nice and clean and leaves the body fresh all day.

Rainbath shower gel cleans skin without drying, but perhaps best of all it doesn't leave scum behind like bar soaps do. I started using bath gels because soaps were too harsh for the most, ahem, delicate skin areas, and the residue soap leaves behind caused itching and irritation. Switching to bath gel (and Neutrogena's is one of the best) had the unlooked for benefit of leaving the tub and sink cleaner-- no soap scum or the mold that grows on soap scum!

I do prefer the fragrance of the blue "marine scent" version, which for some reason can be hard to find.

Neutrogena has ruined the best shower gel ever! The wonderful scent that so many of us have enjoyed for years has been turned into something perfumey and unpleasant. Another post suggested it was to attract more women -- well, I'm a woman and I loved it the way it way. I called Neutrogena and asked to speak with someone about where I could find the original scent and they didn't even call me back. If anyone knows where to find the original scent, please post the information! And if others are as unhappy as the rest of us about this change, please let Neutrogena know! P.S. Amazon, please make it clear in your advertising that this is NOT the classic Rainbath scent that people know from the past -- it is dramatically different, and not the clean, crisp scent we know and love.

Because I can't afford to use Opium bath gel, this is my second choice. I keep a 32 oz pump bottle in all my bathrooms.

It has a nice fresh scent that you won't tire of and won't fight with your perfume.

This one I really like and it probably deserves a 4.5 Stars. Excellent pump and one feels refreshed and invigorated after the daily ablutions. Neutrogena has been around and they always distinguish themselves for carrying some Very Decent products and this is for sure one of them!

I'm always looking for a body wash that both cleans and leaves you feeling refreshed this product meets these needs

I have used Neutrogena Rainbath for many, many years & I love it because it keeps my skin soft & it smells so good. I recommned this to everyone.

Since the first time I tried this body wash I've been hooked. For much of my teenage years I was plagued with acne and even after I was able to get it under control, I could never bring myself to stop using the Neutrogena Body Wash for acne, for fear of my problem returning. However about 2 years ago, I used the Rainbath at a friend's house and since then I've been hooked. I currently reside in France where this product isn't even available, but I still order it and get people visiting me to take it here. It's refreshing, has a great scent and makes my skin feel amazing. I think this relationship will continue for a while to come!
