This shampoo leaves my hair soft and very shiny.

I really like the idea of using a clarifying shampoo on my hair to get rid of all of the oil, dirt, and product build up that may have accumulated on my scalp.

Don't get me wrong, the shampoo does remove residue. But it KILLS your hair. The problem is that it strips products out of your hair, and strips out moisture as well. I've used it for years, until I learned from my friend who is a professional hair stylist, that all you need to do is take one cup of water, one tablespoon of baking soda, pour on your scalp (not ends) and scrub... then take 1/2 cup of cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water, pour in your hair, rinse with cold water. Baking soda is an alkaline and it can make your hair frizz, but cider vinegar is acidic so it closes the cuticle. You can follow it with conditioner (if you think you'll smell vinegar-y, which I've never experienced). My hair comes out super shiny and gorgeous every time... once every 1-2 weeks I do this and it works better than any other clarifying shampoo I have ever used.

I know that most people will feel iffy about that kind of method, but trust me. Ditch the clarifying shampoo, try this and you won't be disappointed.

The results I had with this shampoo were so effective, that I felt that it was worthy of a review (yes, I know I write a lot of them, but I take it very seriously). The recommendation is that you use Neutrogena Shampoo Anti-Residue, every week, to clear out the gunk left over from previous shampoos and conditioners. Though, the smell is a little on the strong side, I know it gets the job done. Use it, as needed, to provide excellent results, in between the times you use your everyday shampoo and conditioner combination.

Recommended years ago by my stylist for weekly use to clean away the residue left by other products. Becoming harder to find as the company tries to "glam" up its products. Still the best on the market.

I have oily hair, and neither diet changes or changing how often I wash it will clear it up. Since I am resigned to my hair type, I have gradually learned how to manage it. This shampoo, hands down, is probably the best shampoo I have ever used for my hair type. Deep cleansing shampoos so get rid of oil initially, but they strip the hair so much that it completely dries out your ends. Moreover, it can cause an overproduction of more oil when the hair gets too dry! This shampoo somehow bypasses that problem and manages to be gentle yet clean enough to use several times a week. The only downside is the scent, which is kind of chemically. But it doesn't leave behind a scent in your hair when you use it so its not that bad.

This shampoo smells wonderful when you wash your hair but unlike other shampoos, the smell doesn't stay. That's fine for me though because I only use it once a week or so to remove buildup. After using it, my hair feels light, soft, and bouncy. I have very fine, thin, mostly straight hair and I've been very pleased with this product for my hair type.

I use this shampoo probably once a week and when I was pregnant 2-3x. It really does strip any build up my other hair care routine leaves. A must use for those that use a lot of product or have naturally oily hair.

I originally tried this on the recommendation of a pharmacist who had the same problem and used it on the advice of a dermatologist. It cleans well, leaves no residue (which invariably causes breakouts) and smells OK. In short: problem solved; every other shampoo caused scalp breakouts. Only complaint: wish it came in a bigger bottle as I use it every 2 or 3 days.

It's not really for long term use, but I use this for a couple days every month or so. It really takes all the residue out. It's slightly drying, but I have very oily hair, so sometimes I need that for my roots. I will keep buying it.
