4.0 out of 5 stars a great, cleansing shampoo...
The results I had with this shampoo were so effective, that I felt that it was worthy of a review (yes, I know I write a lot of them, but I take it very seriously). The recommendation is that you use Neutrogena Shampoo Anti-Residue, every week, to clear out the gunk left over from previous shampoos and conditioners. Though, the smell is a little on the strong side, I know...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's alright, but...
Don't get me wrong, the shampoo does remove residue. But it KILLS your hair. The problem is that it strips products out of your hair, and strips out moisture as well. I've used it for years, until I learned from my friend who is a professional hair stylist, that all you need to do is take one cup of water, one tablespoon of baking soda, pour on your scalp (not ends)...

Don't get me wrong, the shampoo does remove residue. But it KILLS your hair. The problem is that it strips products out of your hair, and strips out moisture as well. I've used it for years, until I learned from my friend who is a professional hair stylist, that all you need to do is take one cup of water, one tablespoon of baking soda, pour on your scalp (not ends) and scrub... then take 1/2 cup of cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water, pour in your hair, rinse with cold water. Baking soda is an alkaline and it can make your hair frizz, but cider vinegar is acidic so it closes the cuticle. You can follow it with conditioner (if you think you'll smell vinegar-y, which I've never experienced). My hair comes out super shiny and gorgeous every time... once every 1-2 weeks I do this and it works better than any other clarifying shampoo I have ever used.

I know that most people will feel iffy about that kind of method, but trust me. Ditch the clarifying shampoo, try this and you won't be disappointed.

The recommendation is that you use Neutrogena Shampoo Anti-Residue, every week, to clear out the gunk left over from previous shampoos and conditioners. Though, the smell is a little on the strong side, I know it gets the job done. Use it, as needed, to provide excellent results, in between the times you use your everyday shampoo and conditioner combination.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lifesaver for me, October 8, 2011
This review is from: Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue Formula, 6 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
I have thick, curly, frizzy hair so I am always using product to keep my curls organized and not frizzy. This shampoo definitely does what it says - after I use it my hair looks great. I know when it's time to shampoo with it when my hair looks tiered or not as full. If you use a lot of styling product and have a problem with build-up, I would recommend giving this a try. I can't find it in my local Wal-Mart any more, so I am so happy to have found it here, and the price is great too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for my sensitive skin., July 12, 2010
This review is from: Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue Formula, 6 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
I originally tried this on the recommendation of a pharmacist who had the same problem and used it on the advice of a dermatologist. It cleans well, leaves no residue (which invariably causes breakouts) and smells OK. In short: problem solved; every other shampoo caused scalp breakouts. Only complaint: wish it came in a bigger bottle as I use it every 2 or 3 days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it should., December 5, 2011
This review is from: Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue Formula, 6 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
I use this shampoo in place of my usual one every 2-3 weeks. It cleans up all the left over hair product and excess conditioner which leaves my hair squeaky clean and full of volume! You definitely do not want to use this too frequently because it WILL dry out your hair.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Basic One, and the Best, February 18, 2012

This review is from: Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue Formula, 6 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
Recommended years ago by my stylist for weekly use to clean away the residue left by other products. Becoming harder to find as the company tries to "glam" up its products. Still the best on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make up brush cleaner!, January 25, 2012

This review is from: Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue Formula, 6 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
I read on Allure that this shampoo has anti-residue/clarifying properties and hence it makes an excellent make up brush cleanser! I mean most of the brush cleaners are super expensive. So Neutrogena Anti Residue Formula Shampoo makes an excellent alternative! Try it! You won't be disappointed. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets rid of buildup, November 6, 2011
This review is from: Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue Formula, 6 Ounce (Health and Beauty)
Neutrogena Shampoo - Anti-Residue Formula is awesome! I did not buy it online. I bought it at Kmart and I think I paid $5-6. I love Neutrogena. I've used many products from them and have never been disappointed.

I had been dealing with really oily hair, no matter how much I washed it. My hair is fine, so the oiliness was really giving me bad hair days. The anti-residue shampoo totally got the oiliness out. I did have to wash my hair with it twice, because my hair just had so much build up. Now my hair has more volume, it feels so clean, and very soft. I will be sure to use it once a week. I would definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT, August 24, 2011

Man, I was getting acne on my scalp from the gym and wearing a lot of hats this summer. I switched from head and shoulders to this and the problem is solved. If you want to get the oil out of your hair, this is perfect, but some people prefer moisture in their hair so may not be best if you plan to use alone without a conditioner.
