One exciting trip to Nevada !!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Nevada Nights (Paperback)
What a story. Cheyenne Warrior & Kentucky Cowboy both love a Texas girl, who's posing as a boy to ride for the pony express. Cheyenne Brave takes Texas girl hostage, which Torments Kentucky Cowboy. Real Historical battles are the backdrop for this war to win her heart. The ending of this book is exciting, but what is possible becomes reality in the next book, Apache Caress, as an underlying plot. Your just so happy to hear more of this story, like they are friends you have not heard from in a long time.

Nevada Nights is Gentry's 5th romance western book in an interwoven series that is full of adventure, love, and well researched historical facts. Dallas Durango is half Cheyenne, half Spanish and a tomboy. She cuts her hair and rides for the Pony Pxpress. Here she meets two men- a Pony Express rider and the fearless Indian that captures her. She will also be forced to make a choice between the two; one will live and the other will die.

TEXAS TOMBOY
When feisty Dallas Durango couldn't bear the stuffy Boston girls' school a minute longer, she fled as far West as her money would take her: to St. Joe, Missouri. There the runaway heiress discovered that women earned mere pennies and, dressing herself as a boy, signed on with the Pony Express. But what the defiant female never counted on was meeting horse breeder Quint Randolph, whose glance made her want to shuck her disguise... and whose touch made her want to beg for more! KENTUCKY GENT Feeling guilty over his wife's death the year before, handsome Quint Randolph had sworn off women and now pursued only stallions that could improve his thoroughbreds. But when he first gazed at the tall, slender Pony Express rider, he knew right away that was no lanky lad... and his virile body responded as never before. Hating her for making him break his vow, loving her for reawakening his desire, Quint chased her along the dangerous trail, intent on making her share his bedroll during the long, hot NEVADA NIGHTS

After first reading this book over 20 years ago, it still remains the best and most inspiring tale I have ever read. I do not normally like reading fiction, preferring biography and reality, however, Georgina bases her books on reality and due to her extensive research into her subjects, her books have a completely "real feel" which set them apart from most fiction.
It is a truly unforgettable story, set in 1860 Wild West, of a plucky young girl Dallas, who wants more than life is offering her as a fashion writer at a Godey's Ladies Book and a goldenhearted bereaved and guilt ridden horse-handler Quint. Their paths cross, causing all sorts of exciting, wonderful and tragic circumstances, including Dallas riding for the Pony Express (one of the first major postal services, using relays of horsemen to take mail across America) A historical romance which is miles ahead of the usual predictable boy-meets-girl and they fall-in-love type. It is a tale of courage, dark passions, loyalty and pure love. It also covers many other strong issues such as hatred and mistreatment of Native Americans (heartwrenching to read of this) and prostitution. If you after more than a twee romance then this is the book for you. All the characters and situations in this book are so alive, real and believable, that it is impossible to put this book down!! It is expertly written, making you see life through the eyes of each character. In this story, you'll find something to evoke just about every emotion from laughter through to sadness (and the sad moments are really REALLY tear jerking - be warned) It is a spicy tale, highly passion stirring, with so many twists all through, you can never predict the next turn! If you are interested in Native American lore you will adore it. If you haven't been up till now, I'm sure this fasinating story will make you want to learn more. It inspired me to learn about the Paiute, the featured tribe in this book. |
