Book Description

May 1, 2003
In Soul Mates Dissipate, her phenomenal Essence® and Blackboard bestseller, Mary B. Morrison left readers cheering with her tell-it-like-it-is-and-then-some story of Jada and Wellington, two lovers whose connection is tested, but never broken. Now, in this eagerly awaited sequel, Jada and Wellington find themselves facing new conflicts that will challenge the decisions they made years ago.

Do we choose love, or does love choose us? That's the question Jada Diamond Tanner can't seem to stop asking herself after ten years of marriage. She thought she'd chosen the right man in Lawrence Anderson, her steady, reliable husband and the man who helped raise her son Darius. But did she choose the right life when she turned her back on Wellington Jones, the soulmate whose fiery kisses took her body and spirit to a higher level than she ever dreamed possible?

For twenty years, Jada has struggled to keep her distance from Wellington, and he's paid her in respect. But now, the cracks in Jada's carefully constructed life are beginning to show. Darius is a young man out of touch and in trouble. When his destructive behavior threatens to destroy him, Jada reluctantly lets Wellington take more control and be the father Darius needs.

With each day back in Wellington's company, Jada begins to question the choices she has made in her life--choices made out of fear, out of foolish pride, out of denial. Slowly, she begins to realize that she still has one choice left: to get true to herself. Armed with the courage and the fire she's been missing for years, Jada's out to seize the opportunity she thought she had lost--and this time, she'll say, "never again once more."

Mary B. Morrison is the author of Soulmates Dissipate, Who's Making Love, and Justice, Just Us, Just Me. She lives in Oakland, California and is at work on her next novel.

More About the Author

Mary B. Morrison, New York Times best-selling author also writes as HoneyB. She has thirteen novels including her newest release, Unconditionally Single.

Writing for both Kensington Publishing Corporation as Mary B. Morrison and Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books) as HoneyB, Mary is at the top of the African-American fiction genre. In her novels, Mary addresses social and sexual issues that impacts relationships. Mary is pro-female empowerment and believes all women are worthy of living free from abuse and states in her novels, "Educate don't Procreate. No teenage girl should become a mother."

Mary received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Vista (now Berkeley) Community College. She worked 18 years for the government. Earning nearly six-figures, Mary resigned from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development on June 3, 2000, and withdrew her retirement to self-publish her debut novel Soulmates Dissipate.

October 2008, Mary began sponsoring a monthly relationship venue now called Tell It All Thursdays to provide a place where adults can openly dialogue about relationships and sex. The venue is held at Maxwell's in downtown Oakland every third Thursdays and promoted via KBLX.

In 2006, Mary sponsored an anthology publishing 33 students entitled Diverse Stories: From the Imaginations of Sixth Graders.

Mary currently resides in Oakland, California. Her wonderful son Jesse Byrd, Jr. attends the University of California at Santa Barbara.

4.0 out of 5 stars Splendid Sequel, September 17, 2002

The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Never Again Once More (Hardcover)
Have you ever ached for unconditional love? Do you hold your soulmate in your arms at night or in your dreams? The sizzling sequel to Soul Mates Dissipates addresses Jada's search for unconditional love and Wellington's ache for his soul mate. After twenty years, the magnetic attraction they shared in their early twenties still exists.

In `Never Again Once More', we catch up with a mature Jada and Wellington. They shed the brazen carelessness they enjoyed as young adults, embraced middle age with sophistication, and usurped parenthood with zeal. I really enjoyed witnessing the evolution Jada and Wellington experienced. Although they extended their best efforts to avoid chaos, Jada and Wellington still nurtured secrets and emotions that erupted, and caused distress for them and their extensions.

The novel occurs over a 20 year span of time. It picks up at the end of Soul Mates Dissipates, and moves forward. I was initially very frustrated and confused with time elements. We were led back and forth through time, so occasionally I was disoriented and had no idea in which decade things were taking place. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, which is thick with the tension and drama that heightens your curiosity and stimulates anxiety. So, take care when you start reading because you may not want to stop until you reach the last page.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, August 2, 2002
This review is from: Never Again Once More (Hardcover)
After reading Soulmates Dissipate I couldn't wait for Ms. Morrison's next novel. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Jada and Wellington. When I saw that they were in Never Again Once More I couldn't wait to begin the book. How could I have known that I would be in for a rude awakening. I was majorly disappointed. The storyline moved too fast and I really wasn't that fond of jada by the end of the book. I don't think Ms. Morrison should have gone as far as 20 years into the future.
