Great story, bad writing,
By
This review is from: Never Been Kissed (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this book because I absolutely loved the movie and wanted to re-live it before it was out on video. Well, I still think it's the best story ever--very uplifting and optimistic--but this book is poorly written. I suppose I didn't expect it to be particularly good writing, but it really did take away from the wonderful message of the book. I would not recommend buying this book unless you see the movie first.

Anyone who wants a good laugh can pick up this book. I have never watched the movie but I find that this book is just as great! A heartwarming story about a girl (Josie) seeking for the true love of her life. She was sent back to high school on an assignment for the newspapers. Back in school, she tried very hard to be cool and also joined the cool crowd. But the result was that she simply did not fit in the 'in' crowd. She was too much of a natural geek. So she befriended a girl in her class who was also sort of a geek. Soon, she was hanging out with a bunch of geeks. This is a very funny book, gotta try... =)

Josie Geller goes back to school at age 25 to do an undercover story. The book was very funny and entertaining, I reccomend it for ages 10 and up.

practically the screenplay,

This review is from: Never Been Kissed (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is practically the screenplay. You could take it, sit down in front of the TV with the film on and read out what the actors are saying word-for-word. Although it follows it, it is actually quiet a good book. It would keep you occupied and you wouldn't get bored. Take my advice- read before you see the film because other-wise, you won't want to see the filk.

The book was okay, but not nearly as good as the movie.,

I liked this book b/c I love the movie. Unfortunatley, however, the book just wasn't written very well. I thought it could have been written sooo much better, particularly the climax, which was summarized in about two sentences.

Nice Movie with a Nice Writing of a Novel,
By A Customer
This review is from: Never Been Kissed (Mass Market Paperback)
This is actually the best novelization of a movie I've ever read! I've read so many novels of movies after I've seen them, but I was somehow disappointed by the "weird" stuff that appeared in the novels. This one.. this one is totally different from those I've read before! Basically the author kept lots of stuff from the screenplay, even some little conversation, but she omitted some scenes in order to make more sense because I found the movie quite confusing... well, not that confusing... (okay.. I don't want to give out the ending just in case there's a person who hasn't seen this awesome movie) I laughed and... even cried while I was reading this book! It's enchanting and powerful! I like the Josie in the movie, and I like the Josie in the book!

A great movie and book,

I found that the book was a lot like the movie. My favorite part would have to be the end when Josie is standing on the baseball mound waiting for Sam. I likes how the writers give you that feeling in your stomch that you have lost you best friend and then all of a sudden once you have accepted the fact her come the guy you have been waiting for all of our life. The beging of the book should have told more about what was going on than it did. i was hard to follow if you haven't seen the movie but over all I loved it.
