I've been studying aquaponics and hydroponics have been searching for different ways the nitrifying cycle and plants are employed to keep fresh water fish healthy and tanks clean. I was delighted to find this book. I have a fresh water aquarium which needs no water changes, only top-ups based on the work of Patrick Blank but I was delighted to see this method employed...

Author doesn't mention in the book's promotion material that a major construction project involving cutting a hole in the tank's top is in order to accomplish never changing the water again.

I've been studying aquaponics and hydroponics have been searching for different ways the nitrifying cycle and plants are employed to keep fresh water fish healthy and tanks clean. I was delighted to find this book. I have a fresh water aquarium which needs no water changes, only top-ups based on the work of Patrick Blank but I was delighted to see this method employed! Not everyone has the wall space to put up a hanging garden (a la P Blank) and Johnson's method of a planter atop the aquarium is a great solution.
