First, let me say that I enjoy L.A. Banks books very much. I like both the Vampire Huntress series and this new Crimson Moon series. She is a very talented writer. This review is from: Never Cry Werewolf: A Crimson Moon Novel (Crimson Moon Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)

After dealing with the warring werewolf clans in New Orleans, Captain Sasha Trudeau and her black-ops team, which report to the Paranormal Containment Unit, are sent to NORAD in the Colorado Rockies. The men who oversee various parts of the military are displeased with the squad's performance because humans died and the public accepted the fact that supernaturals exist.

A second team led by human Colonel Madison, who detests and fears the paranormal, are sent to New Orleans to give an unbiased account. Sasha knows he will get his unit killed and stary a war thaat will end with millions killed because the colonel is unaware of the various species, their governing boards or their unique power. Ancient were-leopard Junq Suk forms an alliance with Vampire Elder Vlad. He gives her a young body into which she transfers her essence into goes on a killing spree making it look like werewolves were hunting humans. The unholy pair hopes the humans eradicate the werewolves who they want punished for their transgressions. The vampire also plans to regain his position as head of the United Council of Entities by proving the wolves brole protocol and by working with an Unseelie Fae who has her own agenda. Sasha tries to minimize the damage Madison does because she doesn't want the city flooded in blood.

Never Cry Werewolf is a marvelous magical military urban fantasy. Sasha finally comes to grips with her feelings about Hunter who is injured trying to prevent a war from breaking out. She also comes to grip with her half-human and half shadow wolf nature. However, what makes this latest action adventure Crimson Moon tale so good is L.A. Banks uncanny skill of using the military via her heroine, the brass and Madison to make the supernatural natural.

5.0 out of 5 stars Betrayal and a desire for power!, January 14, 2011
This review is from: Never Cry Werewolf: A Crimson Moon Novel (Crimson Moon Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
There is a conspiracy to destroy the wolves. As a result, Sasha Trudeau, her mate (Hunter) and her team have to determine who is behind it all. As the story crests into a showdown between the Vamps, the fae and the wolves, we learn of an insidious plot to obtain power.

Those who are followers of the series, or simply those readers who want a wonderful paranormal romance/suspense read will love what LA Banks has done this go around. In "Never Cry Werewolf", we see Sasha Trudeau and members of her Paranormal Containment Unit trying to prevent the world from learning the truth about the war going on between the paranormals. Sent to Norad Headquarters in the Colorado Rockies, Sasha must learn to play by her new Colonel's rules, which proves to be challenging since he doesn't exactly believe in those things that go bump in the night. On top of that, there are some alliances being made with one goal in mind, to bring down the wolves and their allies. Someone or something is committing some very heinous crimes hoping that the wolves will be blamed and destroyed. The issue is who is at the center of this conspiracy. All clues point to someone within their inner circle and everyone is stunned to learn of the participants. There appears to be no loyalty among them and everyone has their own agenda, to be at the top of the food chain.

What I enjoyed most about this particular installment in the series was the evolution of the main character, Sasha, who finally resolves her feelings for her mate's brother (Shogun), as well as her feelings about her position in the pack and her shadow self. While this story is clearly another brick in the foundation to the conclusion of the series, it also is a brilliantly written suspense story with just enough romance, mystery and action to make this an entertaining read. I definitely would recommend it to those who are lovers of the series, as well as those who want to read a great paranormal read.

4.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 4.5) - Existing In A Were-World, October 31, 2010
By
The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Never Cry Werewolf: A Crimson Moon Novel (Crimson Moon Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
From the first book of this series we learn that Special Ops soldier, Sasha Trudeau is a part of a unique group of 'beings', who were bitten or scratched, and contaminated with a werewolf virus. NEVER CRY WOLF begins with Sasha's team being pulled from their mission of curbing civil unrest between werewolf clans in New Orleans and sent to NORAD Headquarters in the Colorado Rockies. Their superiors in the Paranormal Containment Unit are not satisfied with the squad's performance; people are dying and the public now believes a supernatural element exists. A new team has been assigned; an ego-driven Colonel leads an entirely human squad.

Sasha knows the new team will be killed and will more than likely start a war, which will cost the lives of too many people. She tries desperately to alert her superiors that this second team is unaware of the various muted were-species and the overt powers they possess; but to no avail. Meanwhile, an ancient were-leopard, who has united with vampire leaders, is given a young body and goes on a killing spree. The were-leopard's intent is to cast blame on the werewolves, hoping the 'wolves' will be destroyed. Then the vampire Elder will regain his position as head of the United Council of Entities. Sasha now has her own mission; she has to stop the team or minimize the damage they will create and abort the were-leopard's plan, or the city will be swimming in blood.

As usual, Banks' style pulls readers into the story and allows them to be a part of the battle. She shares some almost believable myths, surrounding 'other-dimensions' phenomenon. NEVER CRY WOLF lets Sasha come to grips with her feelings for her partner and also lets her expand who she really is. Her disciplined military background aids her understanding of her half-human, half-shadow-wolf nature. As a confirmed reader of Banks, I've come to expect thoroughness in her writing. She delivers again; she left we me wondering if other-world creatures are as diverse in nature as are humans? The characters bring the intrigue, mystery, and unabridged 'were-world' existence, to life.

3.0 out of 5 stars I missed the action and angst!, September 14, 2010
This review is from: Never Cry Werewolf: A Crimson Moon Novel (Crimson Moon Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
First, let me say that I enjoy L.A. Banks books very much. I like both the Vampire Huntress series and this new Crimson Moon series. She is a very talented writer. Sasha is a shadow wolf, as is her mate, Hunter. Sasha and Hunter can dissolve into shadows and reappear somewhere else. This is a very handy tool when faced with danger. She works for the government in dealing with the supernatural.

Sasha is butting heads with a new Colonel Madison; she knows he is not capable of handling the supernatural species that inhabit their world and in reality doubts their existence. In this latest addition in this series, numerous people are being murdered and by whom or what, is what Sasha and her team need to investigate. Lady Jung Suk, a were leopard, has formed an alliance with the vampires as has the queen of the Unseelie. The vampires want to regain their place as head of the UCE (United Council of Entities).

Similar to the Vampire Huntress series, we have a cast of characters once again that often gets tiresome trying to keep up with all of them. Ms. Banks likes to incorporate all of her many characters into the action and often it gets confusing. With that said, I do enjoy this series but this particular book just didn't interest me as much as the first four. But then, they can't all be winners. I missed the angst between Sasha, Hunter and Shogun. To me that was the most interesting story line. Who would she choose? Now that that story line has been resolved and that tension and uncertainty removed, I found the book to be a little lacking as far as action and character dynamics. Will I read the next one? Yes. They are all worth reading, this just wasn't my favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Never Cry Werewolf: Never Count Sasha Trudeau out, June 28, 2010

This review is from: Never Cry Werewolf: A Crimson Moon Novel (Crimson Moon Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
There's more danger brewing in New Orleans as the Vampires want to be made whole after the wolves took action against them and cost them losses. The PCU is relieved after what was seen as the inability to contain the paranormals in New Orleans. A ego-driven human Colonel Madison is to lead an entirely human squad against the paranormals in New Orleans -completely: shoot and ask questions later.

The wolves have a fortnight to gather evidence to support their use of force against the vampires or the vampires will regain control and Cerridwen can replace Sir Rodney.

The vampires can't leave well enough alone and as will all bad guys, they try to work all of the angles. Will this ultimately backfire? Will Sasha, Hunter, and the rest of gang be able to gather all of the evidence they need to support their use of force? Will Lady Jung Suk reek havoc in New Orleans?

I certainly enjoyed this book. Lighter on the sex, heavier on the problem-solving. VERY eager for the next book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read!, May 25, 2010
This review is from: Never Cry Werewolf: A Crimson Moon Novel (Crimson Moon Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
L.A. Banks has done it again! The latest installment in the Crimson Moon series starts off with a bang and never slows down. Lots of action and adventure as well as romance. It was great to catch up on the lastest in the lives of Sasha and Hunter as well as the rest of the gang. I won't give away the plot but I will say that the relationship between Sasha and Hunter continues to grow stronger. Great read that I would recommend to anyone who has read the other installments in this series.

1.0 out of 5 stars Weak Plot, Uninteresting Characters, Scanty Werewolves, April 16, 2010
This review is from: Never Cry Werewolf: A Crimson Moon Novel (Crimson Moon Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
Not as awful as the last one in this series, but still pretty bad. There wasn't much of a plot other than Sasha running back and forth between New Orleans and Colorado. There were too many secondary characters to care about. The villains were too easy to defeat and the battle scenes were anticlimactic. The sex scene was graphic to the point of hilarity ("lapping up the ooze?" Come on now). Basically, not that great of a book at all. What started out as a fairly interesting series (despite the obvious similarities to Werewolf: The Apocalypse) has turned into the same old paranormal romance drivel. If you're interested in this series, just read the first two books and stop
