Want the Truth...,
By Becca (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For Never & Ever (Audio CD)
I've been listening to this band since the mid 90's when they were promoting themselves on the streets of Chicago in the rain, hail & SNOW! This is one of the only bands that SOLD OUT shows continuously in Chicago years before they were ever signed on basically word of mouth and self-promotion! They are not only one of the most "pretty" bands out there, but they have a raw talent that you just don't seem to find anymore!
All these bad reviews simply shock me...see for yourself what a great band they are - I'm sure you'll agree with me that they're worth every single penny! My recommendations are "Race the Dream", "Raining all the Time" & No one dreams ANYWAY" - off this album - but their earlier stuff "Welcome to Chicago MF", "Don't die wondering" & "Nerve Gas" are amazing too. You'll be mesmerized and hypnotized by their music! TRUTH be told they are AWESOME!

One Of The Most Underrated Groups Of The Moment,
By A. Estes (Maine) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For Never & Ever (Audio CD)
I gotta say, looking at the photo of the band on the back of the CD case, I didn't know what to think of Killhannah. They all dress with pants so tight, you can tell their religion and pretty much look like a second-tier emo act. Listen to the music, however, and such is not the case. Killhannah are one of very few original acts out there. You might remember the single "Kennedy" from back in 2003, but other than that, these guys haven't had much exposure. And what a shame that is. Killhannah may very well be the kick in the pants the rock world needs.
Taking a page from their fellow Chicago breathren and influences in Smashing Pumpkins, Killhannah combine a solid alternative backbone with dense electronics. A frontman who sings his lyrics a little high-pitched, but with plenty of conviction and plenty of pop-hooks. It's hard not to hear a lot of Pumpkins influence in their music, but make no mistake, they also are not even close to being a carbon copy. Despite being a mere eleven tracks long, "For Never & Ever" manages to lay all of the cards on the table, establishing a new sound all their own. "New Heart For X-Mas" "Racing The Dream" and "They Can't Save Us Now" are the real standouts, and songs you need to hear if you are looking into the group. Hopefully when they put out their next album, it will take Killhannah to the next level. I would love to see a band like this destroy the bland emo and retro scene in an instant. One of the true alternative bands left, one that can't be described in a word, confined to a genre. Believe all the good things you've heard about Killhannah. They are all true.

Welcome to Chicago .....,
By "deadeyes" (Shawano, WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For Never & Ever (Audio CD)
This CD is the culmination of several years work for this band from Chicago, they've grown from Metro darlings into full fledged rock stars. This album is a mix of great beats and breathy vocals with rock and roll flair. They mix lyrics about love and lust and alienation with a sensibility that only Kill Hannah has. I truly recommend this album to anyone who likes modern rock music with 80's post modern glam influences. I've been a fan of this band for a long time and I'm very happy to see that with their first major label release that they didn't stray from the formula and yet still gained momentum.
