Book Description

April 6, 1998
Never Fear, Never Quit is the story of Paul Peterson, who is losing the fight to sustain the school he has built for troubled youngsters and sees no way out but to end it all. He is pulled back from the precipice by Rafe, a sort of universal guardian angel, who takes him on a backward voyage through time. Rafe shows Paul how new perspectives and attitudes can create a radically different picture of reality. When time moves forward, Paul finds new solutions to his seemingly intractable problems. Never Fear, Never Quit teaches that miracles are worth working for, that we each have the power to create the miracle of becoming the person we were meant to be, and to give the gift of that knowledge to others.

From Library Journal

Yet another business primer masquerading as a novel, this time from an inspirational guru with an MBA.

From Kirkus Reviews

Self-empowerment fantasy by a counselor for those devastated by business losses or losing a job. Tye has several books and videos on career recovery, self-transformation, and ultimate success. Paul Peterson, a counselor for kids on the skids, runs a recovery school that has 200 enrollees. But through poor business management, Paul is about to lose the school and his mortgaged home. It's Foreclosure Day. Paul goes to the bank for a meeting, blows his stack on account of his fears, stomps outdoors to find a $75 parking ticket on his Chevy (he's in a wheelchair zone), races off to a nearby canyon cliff and jumps off. It's a wonderful life, though, because his guardian angel, Rafe, saves him and begins running time backward so that Paul sees himself backing away from the canyon, going backwards into the bank and going through the whole morning all over again, in reverse motion, while Rafe points out a few flaws in Paul's way of handling his anxieties. Then he's allowed to go through the morning once more. Many of his obstacles turn out to be self-created by fear and misunderstanding of others. This time, people who might have helped him but were dismissed out of hand by Paul come through for him and the school is saved. By facing brutal facts, Paul discovers how he has undersold both himself and life. Along the way, Rafe proffers a number of aphorisms meant to inspire folks who may be in the money dumps: ``Caring is the root of courage''; ``Fear is a prison from which action wins freedom''; ``With faith fear becomes an ally.'' And so on. Sinking people will grasp any straw, and this small, lightly fictionalized handbook of survival may well lend courage to faint hearts. -- Copyright ©1997, Kirkus Associates, LP. As a recent and first time entrepreneur, I had many sleepless nights, worrying about things over which I had no control. Joe Tye's book, Never Fear, Never Quit, was an inspiration to keep me going, and know that I can make my own destiny, and be more than proud of what I have accomplished. My business IS now susscessful, beyond what I dared to dream! What was fear is now challenge; what was doubt is now courage. I reccommend this book to anyone who is facing struggles in life (all of us)--it is uplifting and gives new hope to to the challenges of life

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration, Wisdom and Story-Telling in One Package!, September 8, 2007
This review is from: Never Fear, Never Quit (Paperback)
This is a quick yet powerful read. One you will want to re-read over the course of your lifetime as you grow and face new challenges. I became intrigued when I found a signed copy of this book in a local bookstore so brought it home. I read it in one sitting and have since shared it with my pre-teen son as a tool to discuss his evolving life philosophy.

I am thankful that Joe Tye slowed down enough to discern the wisdom found in this book and share it with his readers. He encapsulated this wisdom in a captivating story that allowed the lessons to come forth while captivating my interest with the characters and drama of the unfolding story.

This book reminds us that we all have so much to live for and sometimes we just need a change in perspective to appreciate the depth of this truth. Joe, thanks for providing that perspective!

5.0 out of 5 stars It gives you hope, April 24, 2004

This review is from: Never Fear, Never Quit (Hardcover)
I read this book a few years ago when I happened to pick it us. I read it in one setting and then went and purchased it for my sister. I am ordering it again as this is where I am in life. I wrote to the author after reading the book and received a response, to my surprise.

Life has its issues and complexities, but there is also the sense of reality that keeps us going. As the author takes us to the edge of life and pulls the reader back I realized that there is so much more to live for. Thank you Mr. Tye as the saying goes. Dynamite comes in little packages.
