5.0 out of 5 stars Don't sleep on this one! A must have....
The talent on this CD is overwhelming! Musically, this has to be the most politically influential project in well over a decade. You will be inspired.

The African children on this ship are not their way into the nightmare of slavery in America, as Prof West has claimed prominently in the national media: the Tavis Smiley show, among other venues. Nor are they on a slave ship at all -- or anywhere near the Atlantic Ocean.

They are instead on the British HMS Daphne in the Indian Ocean, on their way back to...

Rarely buy CDs anymore but this is very good. Cross an in depth NPR political discussion with your favorite college professor, throw in Prince, and a laundry list of talented musical artists. It takes genius to make something so profoundly educational and entertaining...but we are talking about Cornel West so should we expect anything less?

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD never gets old., January 11, 2011

We love this CD. Dr. Cornel West and the other artists dropped some serious knowledge on tracks with some funky beats. The messages are in the music. I hope you enjoy this as much as we have. My 10 year old son has listened to this since he was 8 and he doesn't have an interest for the foolish and ignorant hip-hip that most of his peers listens to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. West and a who's-who of hip hop provide aural relief, June 7, 2008

Dr. West lays out his take on the American psyche along with the support of Black Men Who Mean Business. Including a diverse selection of artists from Rhymefest to KRS ONE, Prince to Andre 3000, Dr. West attempts to soothe America's pain as we have become what he calls a 'Blues people.'

Talib Kweli opens this album with his always powerful indictment of the powers that be--his track alone is worth the price of the album. Add in an amazing discussion between Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, mediated by Tavis Smiley, and you have the recipe for a hip hop album that should be included in everyone's library. The icing on the cake comes from the sheer variety of artists participating in the fight to keep it 'P.I.'

It's important to point out that Jill Scott represents a rare but vital female voice on the album. Her inclusion makes the absence of gender diversity apparent. Hopefully the next album will include the likes of Chrissette Michelle and Queen Latifah, to provide a voice the other half of Black America so desperately needs.

Thank you, Dr. West. It is too far and between that the content of a work is actually immeasurable. "Never Forget" is such an offering that is timeless in the knowledge being transferred and I feel blessed to receive it, over and over again.

Dr. Cornel West does it again. I found this latest CD to be culturally, politically, and intellectually relevant to the issues of the day. This work is as relevant now as Marvin Gaye's classic song "What's Going On" was during the Vietnam era. I certainly would recommend this work to anyone who enjoys meaningful and accurate messages from an afrocentric perspective.

Have always like Cornel West, but had no idea there was a CD with some of his thoughts. Became aware of in class, and found it to be interesting. Thanks

This was so much more than I had anticipated..Honestly I didn't know what to expect, I just had a "feeling" I would not be sorry. I was not. Well, maybe sorry I hadn't purchased it sooner, but happy I was drawn to it.
