A Nice Maxi Single For Your Collection, February 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Never Forget You / Without You (Audio CD)
This is a nice maxi single to get! You get four versions of Mariah Carey's smooth R & B Tune "Never Forget You" and her classic cover of Badfinger's "Without You" Plus the Lyrics to Never Forget You are included as a bonus!
1. Never Forget You (Radio Edit)
The Radio Edit is actually not a radio edit, but a new single remix. It has a more R & B Feel to it than the album version. In my opinion, the remix is pretty true to the original, but i'm not a big fan of the wide range of synthesizers used in the song. 3/5
2. Never Forget You (Extended Version)
Basically the Same as the Radio Edit but with an extended intro. This Intro is too long for my tastes and it drags the song on and on for a while. 3/5
3. Never Forget You - (LP version)
The Best Version of Never Forget You on the disc! Smoother and more soothing than the rest of the remixes. For People out there who like R & B music and Mariah Carey music, but don't like her more urban influenced R & B nowadys, this is the choice for you! 4/5
4. Never Forget You - (instrumental)
The Instrumental is an instrumental of the radio edit actually, and not the lp version. I Was a bit dissapointed at first that it wasn't an instruemtnal of the album version, but it actually does sound pretty good, and it's good for karaoke parties! 3/5
5. Without You - (LP version) The Best Song on this Disc! Mariah's greatest song in my opinion! Mariah delivers an unmatchable performance of the Badfinger song. Her emotions are evident in the song as her vocals rise from low like a depressed person to high like a person on the verge of a nervous breakdown .This song is so good i have to give it 6/5!
Overall, if you are a big mariah fan or a maxi-single lover, go ahead and grab this! But if you don't like the remixes or prefer the album versions of Without You and Never Forget You, you should stick with the single of Never Forget You (Actually Called Without You/Never Forget You), which has those two album versions. The single is also available at Amazon.

This song isn't her best but if u love Mariah as much as I do, then you will love it anyway. The best part of this disc is the remixes of Never Forget You. This song still deserved 2 go 2 #1.. maybe it would have if it had been accompanied by a video.

A top 5 smash hit that gave its b-side a good run for its money in 1994, "Never Forget You" was probably the best single culled from her Music Box album, hell- one of the best singles off ANY of her albums. While the single's b-side "Without You" had the luxury of a video, "Never Forget You" seemed to be the song of choice for most radio programmers, and is regarded as one of her best singles during a white-washed period in her career. The remix wasn't altogether necessary, and is not one of her best, but the song itself is a highlight for her, and a welcome smash hit for her that broke, even if for only a second, her power-ballad chain.
