Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Somewhere between heaven and hell lies Third Street House, a Los Angeles halfway home for recovering addicts. Chief among it's residents are Franky (Darren Bourrows, TV's " Northern Exposure "), Cesar and Joe, three friends who have a fragile grip on sobriety. THey face the ultimate test when Sophie Dresjac (Sebastian Roche, TV's " Odyssey 5"), a world famous rock star, moves in. THe burnt out veteran of twenty two rehabs, Soren no sooner checks in before he's out on the street looking for his next fix. But when Sorens' self destructive behavior drags Cesar down as well, it'll require all of Franky and Joe's strength and courage to remain clean, at least until tommorrow. For a Third Street House, life is taken one day at a time...and there are no second chances.

4.0 out of 5 stars The reality of addiction., February 23, 2007
I gave this video to a person trying to remain abstinent from drugs but dealing with the obsessions of use. The situations depicted in the movie helped him to realize the potential consequences and motivated him to find more pro-active measures to ensure recovery.

Though somewhat dry reality, I really enjoyed the film myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Holds Barred, March 26, 2009
First of all, John Cusack is not *in* the movie, 'kay?

Secondly, this is grimy, gutter cinema at its best. If you grew up in the suburbs in a house with a nice, white, picket fence then this might look like sensationalism to you, but it's as real as real gets. This is the story of men --most of whom never had a lot to begin with -- who've been brought low by addiction. So they turn to whatever they can -- meaningless sex, tarot, crappy McJobs, porn -- anything to relieve themselves of wanting a fix every minute.

But beyond the story of addiction, this is a movie that also shows one of the biggest dangers of drugs is that it forces addicts to see themselves and the world the way it is. There's no hiding (as William tells a couple of guys at the end of the film). You're exposed.
