I'm a recent college grad, and believe that I am going through the stage called the "Quarterlife Crisis." I'm trying to find myself, and make sense of what is happening with me, and around me during these first few years of my twenties. I saw this book while I was vacationing in Anchorage, Alaska, and I flipped through it because the title of the book caught my eye. This book is not only about Carlana's struggle with her disability, but I especially like the self-help exercises that she included after each chapter. They make you examine your life, and realize that you cannot stop living no matter how tough life can be. Although this book has some grammatical errors and omitted words, Carlana's overall message is helping me to understand that I need to keep going, and to accept the challenges that life brings.

I enjoyed this book like none other. This is the most inspirational book I have ever come across. I cried in the first two chapters. After reading this book, I know that I can accomplish anything and I am so inspired by the life story and triumphs of her life. I am now ready to conquer anything. Typically, I would not take the time to make a review but I was so touched by this book that I had to let others know!

I couldn't put it down....read it in three days! I cried like a baby, and sighed with relief! This story reveals the strength of the human spirit, and how sometimes tragedy can beget something BEAUTIFUL!!! I honestly believe that had it not been for that tragic night in high school, Carlana Stone might not be the successful news anchor, program director, or producer she is today.

She managed to use her misfortune to catapult her to greatness. She is an inspiration to us all!

This book is a must-read for everyone. Each of us will, at some point in our lives, be faced with adversity. This book provides a new perspective and the gift of hope and encouragement, and is so well written that I read the whole thing in one sitting, I couldn't put it down!! I especially like the chapters on Russia. This is also a great book for teens who might need to hear the message about the dangers of drinking and driving. I bought ten copies and gave them to friends and family memebers. A great read!!!!

This is truly an inspirational book. At one level, it is the story of Carlana Stone Lawson and her struggle to overcome a crippling accident as a teenager. Carlana and co-author John Di Rienzo take us along on the subsequent journey that completely transformed her life. We are witness to her struggles to overcome life's adversities (so many of which we can all identify with), and watch as she discovers her inner strength and beauty, and finds success and love in her life again. But at another level, this book provides us with a window through which to examine and learn about ourselves. The intimacy and honesty with which she shares her life's story provides us with an opportunity to grow. Like Carlana, we all face challenges and experience pain in our lives. But we discover along with Carlana that we are not alone in the challenges we sometimes face - and can grow past adversity to enjoy new, more exciting experiences in our lives. And we learn that it's okay to seek help from others, to share our experiences, and to gain strength from one another. But perhaps most important of all, Carlana demonstrates how we can find the strength within ourselves to constantly grow - and live life to the fullest. This book had a positive impact on my life, and I think it's inevitable that it will for many others. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it.

Carlana's story got me from the start. It's not just her story but the story of all of us. Anyone that has ever struggled to get their life back on track after a blow will get something out of this book. I related to it and also was inspired by her stamina. The story is engrossing and reads like a novel. It's also got some great lessons for teenagers out there about the dangers of drinking and driving.

I ordered this book, for I seen it in a plane and pilot magazine. The author of this book, who is disabled, is not only a disabled young woman, but she is a pilot too. I thought it was awesome that someone had went beyond the odds for herself and never stopped believing in herself. Great book.

At 17, Carlana Stone was an active gymnast, cheerleader, and social leader at her school. One night of bad judgement changed everything when she drove home with drunken friends. They got in a car accident and she was paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life.

With incredible honesty and candor, Carlana tells us the story of how she never gave up on herself and realized her dreams - even using her disability to make those dreams come true. Carlana truly gives hope and inspiration to everyone - and especially women - that we do not have to be victims and that we can make our lives what we want them to be.

What an incredible story! Carlana makes you realize that life throws its punches, but you can definitely make positive choices that will make you happy in life. And now, her newest accomplishment of being the FIRST AMERICAN PARAPLEGIC WOMAN to FLY SOLO exemplifies her determination and gusto for life. Her story alone is motivational, but the lessons and suggestions with each chapter make it a cut above the rest! Kudos to this amazing woman..

This book grabs you with the very first line and doesn't let go. Although I hadn't planned to, I read it straight through; it was just that compelling. In addition to providing practical advice to people confronting their own issues, the book is an extremely entertaining read because of the authors' humor and wit. Very inspiring.
