John Russell was born to a large family in 1951. After facing many hardships, his mother made the heart-wrenching decision to place her seven children up for adoption. In their attempt to insure that he bonded to his new family, Johns adoptive parents never allowed him to mention his former life. Memories were suppressed, and only after 34 years passed were the siblings reunited. Shortly after their reunion, Joe, Johns younger brother, was taken by cancer, having had only three meetings between the reunion and Joes death. John made one final visit to Joes home in Colorado to assist with chores before he passed away. These would be their last moments together. Revisiting in his mind the moments they shared as children began a healing exercise that would ultimately lead to this account of a life spent without siblings and a search for answers, resolution, and peace.
