True Friends Never Let You Down,
By Claudio Piccinini (Modena Italy) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Never Let Me Down Again (Audio CD)
"Never Let Me Down Again" has been the second single taken from the DM album "Music for the Masses".The song talks about the values of friendship and makes you fly high. The videoclip is particularly suggestive, showing Dave Gahan and an old man (If I don't recall wrongly he was Dave's grandfather) in a rarified atmosphere, communicating that the present evolves from the past and time is one, after all, so younger generations can learn to live from the old ones. The sound of "Never Let Me Down Again" evolves from DM previous masterwork, "Black Celebration", creating an intense and rarified atmosphere.

Perhaps the best version of one of Depeche Mode's best songs,
By Thomas S. Ferrugia (subzero288@aol.com) (New York, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Never Let Me Down Again (Audio CD)
The A-Side to this CD has the same version of 'Never Let Me Down' heard live on 'Depeche Mode 101.' It gives off all the raw energy and strength of the live version, while focusing more of your attention on the music, by eliminating the noisy background crowd. The song starts off powerfully and continues into great dance music that, as is always the case with Depeche Mode, has moving lyrics that actually MEAN something; a quality so lacking in most of the garbage on the radio today. Simply, if you like the original, you will love this CD. The B-Side is the version of 'Pleasure Little Treasure' heard on 'Music for the Masses.' This song isn't even good enough to be a Depeche Mode B-Side, let alone appear on an album.

Depeche Mode shows, that they are able to make a very melancolic sound with an orchestral background.

THE BEST OF THE BEST,
By A Customer
This review is from: Never Let Me Down Again (Audio CD)
Never Let me Down was the first song from the first DM album I purchased.I loved how they mixed the heavy drum beat with the intense synths and then the soft but edgy piano.BRAVO!Then to top it all off the great vocals of David Gahan and Martin Gore.Never Let me Down is the best track on Music For The Masses & 101. (I love "the aggro mix")
