This is the story of a year on an Australian cattle station. The author, a city girl, and her husband took charge of the station with all it's problems and delights. She overcame the suspicions of the hearty cattlemen and aboriginal workers with good humor and modesty. Well worth reading and remembering.

This is an important book in the history of Australian literature, and well written, but this indypublish edition is scanned from a previous printing, and is full of typographical errors. It's available for free from project Gutenberg and google books, so I'd recommend against buying this edition. The book deserves better.

I thought it was a great insight into the life and human interactions of a woman in such a harsh landscape. It's a part of the world, and history that I am very interested in, but I'd recommend it to anyone.

this book is FULL of typos...it's distracting and makes for a hard read. I would never buy this book if I had the option!

I watched a video of the same name. It was pretty interesting, so I figured the book would flesh out the details. lt might, but I didn't get that far. The author wrote her book with page after page of dialog, something I can't stand. I just wanted observations of Northern Australia in the early 1900's. Sadly, I quit reading and thru it away.
