i thought the album was great!,

This review is from: Never Say Never (Audio CD)
This album is definitely more sophisticated then her last one. I love its smooth tunes, breat taking lyrics. This is one of those albums where u can listen to every song over and over again. The only complaint that I had was that I wished she used her vocal range more and added alittle more soul. But besides that I couldn't ask for more from a artist.

Delivers Love Songs From The Heart!,

This review is from: Never Say Never (Audio CD)
This sophomore album displays a musical artist that strikes a chord of natural inner and outer beauty transpired through her singing, messages, and vocal inflections. From the popular hits to the not so, she delivers an album packed with love, passion, and heartfelt messages to touch even the coldest of hearts. Brandy foremost thanks God in the inner booklet thus showing how her gifts were not taken for granted but greatly appreciated to share with the world through her music, song-writing, and singing. Brandy inspires, brings hope, and proves that dreams come true if you believe. While many believed her talent was short-lived never say never as she has released numerous releases to this day Human proving she is in it for the long haul. This mellow R&B album takes an intimate look into feelings of love and how they take a hold of a person's heart bringing strength, sorrow, or hope. No matter what the listening experience brings to each and every person, the music is promising, striking, and classic!
This Japan Edition has the bonus track, "The Boy Is Mine" (Duet with Monica) (Radio Edit without Intro)" and features the lyrical sheet in Japanese text, obi-strip, and collector's value. It's a smooth R&B groove with Monica and Brandy desiring the same guy. This song won a Grammy for "Best R&B By a Vocal Performance By A Duo Or Group". The difference between the third track and this would be that this version is the radio edit and omits the introduction. The overall difference is not noticeable to a huge extent but very hinted as it clocks at 3:59 vs. 4:55 minutes. For those interested in the visuals I recommend seeing the video on this DVD, Brandy - The Videos. The sound between both singers is quite distinct in that Monica has a more raw style while Brandy has smoother and softer --almost sugar coated vocals. The melody is catchy and the mid-tempo beats are not monotonous or boring. It's a song with a message--a trend found very strong in the entire listening experience in this album. While both girls like the same guy, they are each tugging to prove their hold while in the end it's apparent. As I listened to the album certain songs didn't hit a strong note to me so it became apparent that the lyrical booklet [released on all] came very handy. Once the words to the song are visualized it takes on a totally different experience. There are all kinds of emotions that are touched: hurt, pain, romance, hopes, dreams, true love, and life-lessons. Every track has something special to offer in terms of mature writing, thought provoking, and to the core of the most hidden feelings many may have in their vault of protection to avoid from being hurt. It's a veil being lifted to uncover, recover, and feel free, positive, and enlightened. Popular hits many have already heard are "Have You Ever?", "Top Of The World", "Almost Doesn't Count", "The Boy Is Mine", and "Never Say Never". All having catchy hooks, R&B, and addictive grooves. My favorite songs are numerous but to name a few I'd say, "(Everything I Do) I Do For You" - a Brian Adams song Everything I Do, I Do For You. Brandy does an outstanding job in making the words to the song reflect quite strong almost making a listener experience the feelings firsthand. "Almost Doesn't Count" has a melody that definitely brings soothing if you've been hurt by a lover. The music has guitars, and many array of instruments that are elegant, and impacting. Another rare track that was very unusual but nice is, "Learn The Hard Way" as it brings the message that love was taken for granted as she sings, "You couldn't even say I'm sorry for all the hurt and pain you caused me now I am suppose to give my deepest sympathy you see I had enough crying and I'm tired of all the lying..." But the ultimate favorite is, "Have You Ever?" for it's hooks, messages, singing, vocal shifts, musical production, and depths of emotions that impact and hit strong. "What do I gotta do to get you in my arms? What do I gotta say to get you to my heart to make you understand that I need you next to me... Have you ever tried to find the words but they don't come out right? Have you ever? Have you ever?..." *There is also a double disc 1998 Australian Special Limited Edition quite excellent.

"Brandy has definitely matured both mentally and vocally!",

This review is from: Never Say Never (Audio CD)
Brandy's latest album, "Never Say Never", is evertything I expected and even more! When I bought the album I was so overwhelmed with excitement, and after I listened to it for the first time, I couldn't stop playing it. I ruined my first CD and bought another one. Her raspy, melodic voice is more beautiful than can be explained. The power behind her voice when she sings an emotional song, such as "Tomorrow" makes you think back to a similar time in your life because of the way she feels her music. The tones in her voice are powerful and the way she harmonizes her sounds just make you wonder where a gift like this can come from. Her runs and adlibs are exceptional! They don't sound like someone made them up just for a certain phrase in a song, but they run smoothly like they were already written in the song. I give nothing but probs to Brandy for her much deserved success and I thank her for being a part of my life!
