March 15, 2003
An entertaining, enlightening and highly engaging guide to communicating your way through a controversial world.

Set in the not-so-fictional future, watch and learn as 3 students meet the "Reporter From Hell" at the Institute for Serving the Public's Information Needs, affectionately known as 'SPIN College'.

Learn to avoid the traps of negative messages and negative people by playing "The Spin Doctor's Game."

Discover how you can answer ANY question - from your boss, your co-workers, the media, or even in a job interview - using the "One Minute Power Message" template.

Picture yourself using the power of the common sense language of professional spokespersons to stop the PR-Speak or Bureaucrat-Speak, and MANAGE YOUR MESSAGE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply. the best, November 10, 2003
By
This review is from: Never Say "No Comment" (Paperback)
I happened upon this book by chance whilst on a trip to Toronto. Media relations is part of my job as a local authority worker in UK, so I thought I'd buy it even though I questioned myself as to whether it could be 'translated' to this country. How wrong I was! Having come to terms with the jargon and the examples, it's become my bible - both for my own use and in training sessions for colleagues. If only it had been around when I was starting out! Thanks you, Ian and George, no-one who speaks to the media for a company, local authority or government department should be without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Articulate, Witty, Practical Guide to Media Relations, October 9, 2003
By
David Glover (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Never Say "No Comment" (Paperback)
This straightforward, realistic guide to media relations is a must read for anyone who has ever felt the trepidation of facing a query from the press, a customer or co-worker at a meeting.

Ian and George use practical examples to support their lessons, and a good measure of humour to make this an enjoyable read.

2.0 out of 5 stars A little too artsy, March 30, 2008
This review is from: Never Say "No Comment" (Paperback)
There's some good tips in this book, but you're going to have to pick them out from the fictious, futuristic story it is oddly set against.
