5.0 out of 5 stars All Bases Covered!!!
Ms. Cameron does a nice job in this inter racial romance - Tyler and Desiree meet at work and the sparks fly. Tyler is centered lawyer who grew up recognizing dysfunctions in relationships that he witnessed from his own parents. Desiree is a professional woman who has dreams of expanding her education (becoming an attorney) - and she dumps her longtime boyfirend/fiancee...

2.0 out of 5 stars editor?
This book is a perfect example of sloppy editing. Stiff dialogue, uneven pacing, two-dimensional characterization, absence of conflict, flabby structure and just loose writing (not to mention some basic copy editing that should have been performed before it went to print.) It read like a first or second draft. Come on!

I refuse to blame the author. I blame...

Tyler is centered lawyer who grew up recognizing dysfunctions in relationships that he witnessed from his own parents. Desiree is a professional woman who has dreams of expanding her education (becoming an attorney) - and she dumps her longtime boyfirend/fiancee after she realizes that he does not feed her heart. This couple tackles all of the stigmas and taboo's of white/black dating as well as extended families (Tyler's divorced with two kids)Great job - this story promotes happiness is where you find it!!! Tyler is not only financially secure, but he is handsome, has good values , knows how to treat a woman and he is very sensual! A keeper no matter what race!:)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, January 21, 2008

"Never Say Never" was a compelling read with a few problems, but ultimately a keeper. Desiree Diamond is a paralegal stuck in a dead end relationship with a man who refuses to commit to her. In comes Tyler Banks, a handsome, kind man who works with Desiree and has his eye set on her.

I liked Tyler and Desiree. He was a man who knew what he wanted and didn't play games. He was patient and loving. In short, he was a grown-up that made his own decisions and didn't care what others thought.

Desiree was a little more problematic. She had reservations about becoming involved with Tyler. Considering the fact that Tyler was a lawyer while she was a paralegal, her reluctance was understandable. She quickly came around and found a relationship worth the hassles that came their way. She was "too- stupid- to- live" sometimes, but those moments were few and far between.

Desiree and Tyler were smart, decent characters that I could identify with. The chemistry between Desiree and Tyler was good, although I think that things became physical a little too fast. The supporting cast worked and provided some laugh out loud moments.

It was difficult for me to rate this book. After I read it the first time, I thought it was a little above average. After re-reading it, I realized that it was a story that had more depth than I originally thought. This could be due to the pacing of the story, which could be a little slow.

All in all, I think that this book rates 4 stars. It was a sweet love story that illustrates how adults should behave in relationships.

2.0 out of 5 stars editor?, April 13, 2008

I refuse to blame the author. I blame her editor (or lack of one.) Indigo, what is going on? This is not the first book from them that I get a really strong feeling that they know that they can sell product, no matter how sloppy, and we'll buy it because there's no other distributor for it. Jeebus.

Am I harsh? Maybe. I'm also a big fan of romance novels (all of them) and I can't help but compare these authors to Sandra Kitt or Jennifer Crusie and these continue to fall short. Geez, what do I have to do to get a decent IR romance - write one of my own?? (Hey, that's a thought.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read, January 6, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Never Say Never (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a well written story. The story is about an office romance between a lawyer (Tyler) and a paralegal (Desiree). In the beginning they worked together on an important case. There was no romance just two people who worked well together. Desiree was not interested in dating a white guy she preferred black men. Even though she thought Tyler was a handsome man, she was not interested in him romantically. He asked her out to dinner one evening and she refused. At a time later in the story she relented and they went out to dinner. The romance developed from that point forward. The characters were well written and the dialogue was real. This book had romance, you could feel the love developing between the two characters. The sex scenes were tastefully done, not too explicit but with enough detail so you got the sizzle and the romance. It would have been nice to have a little more of the book written from Tyler's perspective. Otherwise it was an enjoyable read.

This was a good book. Nice length. Good character development and good interaction between the two main characters as well as the supporting cast- their respective families/friends. Would definitely recommend!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok... but a little dry, April 6, 2008
This review is from: Never Say Never (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This books is a decent read. Yet, because I have read SO many interracial books, I can't give it a high mark. The story takes a long time to get into.. I was instantly bored with the female character and her lack of drive. She seemed so complacent that I was wishing that a new female lead would take over and remove me from her drivel. I really liked Tyler. He was the type of man that I would date. He knew what he wanted and didn't have major doubts. I think that's what we like... strong male leads.
The sex scenes were so lacking. I was bored... oh well... at least it was a short read....

This is only my 2nd interracial romance novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have skimmed others which have just been too crass in their love scenes but Ms. Cameron handled them with grace and style. I am very pleased with this novel because I know this is more true as to how interracial relationships happen and it is nice to see very well educated characters who tackle the subject. I would have liked to have seen a bit more on the part of Tyler as to how he dealt with instances of prejudice but the situations where he did were well written. It is so refreshing to have novels where the African American woman is being pursued by men of other races as opposed to only being desired by African American men. It is high time that others see that we are worth the effort just as much as our Caucasian sisters are and hopefully novels like this will open the door for more relationships between African American women and racially diverse men.

5.0 out of 5 stars Without Color, January 3, 2008
This review is from: Never Say Never (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
Excellent job!!! The charactors are believable and the story, I am sure is of many who are either in interracial relationships or are new to the interracial scene. A wonderfuly book the sex scenes were not of the so called erotica explicit but tastefully done. Desiree and Tyler overcame what needed to be overcome in the name of love. Its true love conquers all. Michele Cameron again job well done can't wait for more of your writting in this genere.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a Shame, October 24, 2008

This book had the potential to be good. It lost it in the depths of prejudice. Come on, there are ways to add spice besides dipping in murky waters. The comments about the mixed child (during Christmas shopping) was so ignorant I was embarrassed to even read it. Anyone dumb enough to make such comments should not have anything else to say in the book.
Tyler's point of view was missing and Desiree was a coward until the last 10 pages. IR relationships do work outside of movies. I am in one (wmbw) for 10 years now with the love of my life. We have a beautiful 5 year old who is well balanced because she is well loved. Imagine that.
