I you can't walk...,

This review is from: Never Tell Me Never (Paperback)
Janine Shepherd's story is inspirational and gutsy.
An Olympic level cross-country skier, her life was changed forever when she was hit by a truck while riding her bicycle. She barely survived the accident, and was told she might never walk again. Defying all odds, she managed to get back enough use of her legs to walk, but her days as an elite athlete were over. She decided, if she couldn't walk, she'd fly. She became a qualified pilot, then an aerial acrobatics instructor. Even though she will remain partially paralysed for the rest of her life (she cannot stand on her toes, for example) she has not allowed her injury to stop her from setting and achieving new goals and forging a successful life. This book inspired an Australian movie of the same name, staring Claudia Karvan as Janine Shepherd. A sequel to the book, "Dare to Fly" follows Shepherd's story after the fame of the first book and film.
