The Most Underrated Singles of 2002...,
By
This review is from: Never Too Far/Don't Stop (Audio CD)
It's a shame that in early 2002 the singles "Never Too Far" or "Don't Stop" didn't get played. People were too buisy focusing on Tommy Matolla's sabotoge on how "crazy" she was. It's a shame that her singles didn't go to number one, which they should have. "Dont Stop" featuring Mystikal is a gitty little 80's inspired dance tune that's so darn catchy it'll have you put it on repeat. Mariah always wanted to sing backup vocals for a hip hop artist, and in this song she gets to do so. Produced by DJ Clue and "Duro", "Don't Stop (Funkin 4 Jamaica)" is one of her best singles and was probably panned by critics because of the hip hop elements. But notice how no one ever said anything about how she was dressing in the video for it? She was dressing just fine! Also, the 2nd single is the most underrated song of hers. "Never Too Far" is a beautiful ballad produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (most notably working on all of Janet Jackson's songs) and has beautiful but sad lyrics about loosing loved ones (though not made regarding 9/11, it helped some people cope with it). While singles like "Hot In Herre", "Girlfriend (remix)", "Complicated" and "1000 Miles" got played non-stop till the point of annoyance, we missed 2 beautiful ones right here. Don't worry Mariah, your fans still appreciate your work! You didn't let us down. reccomended to any Mariah fan or open-minded music lover. T his was one of the BEST singles of 2002 and it's a shame it was overlooked. A+(+) for both. PS: the remixes on this disc are good too, not to mention an enhanced video.

Never Too Far,

Personally,i like the song,Never Too Far.I was blown away when i first listened this song.It is a great ballad from Mariah. It is definitely better than some of her previous ballads, such as When You Believe,I Still Believe. You can feel the pain and heartache when you listen to this song. And not too forget, her amazing angelic voice that is shown at the end of the song.Dont Stop is an upbeat hip-hop song.I find it catchy and it is a new style of music from Mariah.I think it is far better than some of her hip-hop work in Rainbow. The reason i give this CD-single 4 stars is i dont really like Loverboy.

Mariah Really pulls it together with this great import.Track Listing 1.) Never to Far (radio edit*) - great ballad, yet short enough that it doesn't get tiring. really shows off Mariah's vocals! 2.) Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica) (Album Version) feat. 3.) Loverboy (Drums of Love : Instrumental Remix) -

I love "Never Too Far", and the whole "Glitter" album. It's a shame that she was so messed-up afterwards. Otherwise, I think the album may of done better.

better than average only because of Never too far,
This review is from: Never Too Far/Don't Stop (Audio CD)
if it weren't for "Never Too Far"&Her Vocals being Good on it I'd give this Set of single a One."Don't Stop" is a Very Weak Re-Make of TOm Browne's Classic" Jamaica Funk"."Loverboy" the Re-Make of Cameo's "Candy" is even Worse as a Cover here.but the lead single saves them a bit.

Powerful hit! CD a little pricy.,

Never Too Far is one of the best songs in Glitter. I particularly like it to have amply displayed Mariah's flexible vocal capabilities and her wide range (it's scary, the range). Lyrics are pretty morose but she sang it with consummate skill and emotions, making it really moving. A beautiful ballade. However, Loverboy Remix and Don't Stop appear lousy beside Never Too Far. Don't Stop has been frequently derided for its minimal Mariah-touch. She merely sings no more than 5 lines (I think) which I can't hear clearly. Loverboy is, well, not as good as Heartbreaker. More than 10 bucks for this single... Recommend you buy the album.

Double A Side,

This is the second single for Europe and Australia. This single has four tracks in total:1. Never Too Far (Radio Edit) 3.56 2. Don't Stop (LP Version) 3.38 3. Loverboy (David Morales Drums Of Love Remix) 6.36 4. Never Too Far (Enhanced Component) "Never Too Far" is a brilliant ballad which Mariah sings with her heart and soul. Mariah's voice is crystal clear though you might still have problem determining what she is singing in parts of the song. It's a brilliant ballad by all means with Mariah returning to top form. "Don't Stop" on the other hand is a totally different story. It's an up beat R&B gem with is accompanied by a brilliant video. The only problem with this song is that Mystikal out sings Mariah as she only manages the chorus and a little bridge near the end. Mariah does hit those high notes but it's not very clear. This remix of "Loverboy" is pain stakingly long. This remix shouldn't even be considered as a song considering that there is minimal singing and it's all drums and nothing else for 6 minutes. Overall, this CD is worth it if there is no commercial release in the US. Or else, you are better off without it because |
