One of Luther's early albums. My personal favorite cut is "Don't You Know That"

Truly is... Never Too Much,

I once told my spouse that the last thing I wanted to hear as I lay dying is Luther Vandross singing "A House is not a Home", the last track from his first solo album. "Never Too Much" was one of the soundtrack albums of my high school years. In the early 80s I knew (and still know) every line, every word, even as the songs are going off. With the rare exception of "She's a Super Lady", the album doesn't feel dated. The songs are fresh, uplifting, and when the aforementioned final track hits you, you forget that Dionne Warwick recorded the same track years before. The bottom line - buy this CD,listen before bedtime and enjoy one of the best solo performers of our time do his thing. Joseph

i grew up listening to my mum playin me classic soul, and luthers 1981 debut features one of the most catchy classic dance floor numbers ever, never too much.theres another classic, a house is not a home(a beautiful reworking by luther), and of course the lost classic, "dont you know that". this song cant be found on any of luthers multiple "best of" compilations, and had it ever been released as a single it would probably be eternal. its so simple, so unbelievably addictive, you need to buy this album just for the sake of this song. the rest is largely enjoyable stuff, this ones a must for luther fans...

It doesn't get better than Luther Vandross. He should have received a grammy for everything that he's made. What a voice, and the passion that comes with all of his recordings. When I listen to his music, I can feel the love and passion that he's experiencing. Luther is definity experiencing his every word when he is singing. I love Luther

He did do an album before this. But, this is the one that turned the world on to Luther. Just think, he never one the amateur show at the Apollo. But, now anybody who approximates him can win. An icon.

Being familiar with Luther Vandross prior to his debut, I eagerly anticipated "Never Too Much." Every song here is worth it's weight in gold (and platinum). He should have won a grammy that year. If not not for best artist, then best R&B vocal performance, male, best R&B album...something! A real treasure!

Luther Vandross has always been one of my favorite recording artist! His style of singing is not too different than that of my own! I've found his work on "never Too Much" to have been a great tribute to R&B music!
