Book Description

Maureen Driscoll’s Kellington novels continue with Arthur’s story, the third book in her Regency romance series.

When Arthur Kellington was fifteen, a Romany fortune teller predicted that his true love would be killed. Since then, he’s resolved to never fall in love. He has no trouble keeping his resolution until he meets Vanessa Gans, an agent with the Home Office who is on the trail of two hardened criminals. As he finds himself falling for her, he must keep his distance emotionally as the only way to protect them both.

Despite her illegitimate birth, Vanessa Gans has worked her way up to being one of the Crown’s finest agents. She’s reluctant to accept Arthur’s help initially because she doesn’t want to place him in danger. Then she realizes her heart is truly at risk because there can be no honorable future between them.

NEVER WAGER AGAINST LOVE is a romantic tale of bravery, sacrifice and love. It contains explicit language. The earlier books in the series were NEVER MISS A CHANCE (Book 2) and NEVER A MISTRESS, NO LONGER A MAID (Book 1), which USA TODAY’S HAPPILY EVER AFTER blog called “enjoyable, suspenseful and satisfying.”

If you are a fan of the Kellington's the third book in this series does not disappoint. Lord Arthur and Vanessa are absolutely a dynamite duo. This is my first review, so I won't give much about the story, but if you love the Kellington's you will not be disappointed being reunited with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never wager against the Kellingtons, I loved it! March 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved it from start to end....

Another great story by Maureen Driscoll. Ever since I was pleasantly introduced to the Kellingtons with Never a Mistress, No Longer a Maid I fell for them. They all have charm, sense of humor, kindness and wit. After finishing this latest instalment in the series I can honestly say they are my favorite characters, and I've read many books, many, many books.

Once again, the author has caprtured me from the first sentence. The dialogues are superb! Probably my favorite part of the story, the author amazes me with how natural they flow. The story has action, suspense and keeps you guessing up until the last chapter. Still it is a romantic story through and through. The interaction between the Kellingtons is funny and genuine, they had me laughing out loud in public. Needless to say I didn't put it down until I finished it. Vanessa wasn't a tedious female that fought love until she magically accepted it at the end. She has brains, she has courage, beauty and common sense, all which made me like her more and more with every word I read.

Arthur was... Simply spectacular. I've always thought of Liam as my favorite Kellington, now I'm not so sure. Arthur is a great character. Brave, like his namesake, handsome, funny and not overly confident or chauvinistic. He believes in Vanessa's abilities, is proud of her and wants her to be his equal in every sense of the word. But still feels the need to protect her because he loves her and protect her he does without demeaning her capability of protecting hereself.

This is a must read. You will be charmed by the Kellingtons both male and female. And I'm sure once you are you would wish there were more than 5 of them so the series would Never end!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book in a good series. June 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've been reading these books so fast I'm unable to keep up with reviewing them.

This is the third book of the Kellington series and it once again pulled me in a made me want to continue through the book. This book is about Aurthor Kellington who is kind of a rake and enjoys women, gambling and drinking but not necessarily in that order. He meets his match in this book and the adventure they go on is quite enjoyable. I don't want to give anything away but if you like steamy, steamy romantic scenes you'll enjoy this book as well as the others. These books are not for the naïve or shy so if you do not want to blush a bit reading some delicious bedroom scenes, don't bother with this series.

As with the other books, this is an easy book to read and quite a quick read also. Good story and the dialogue between the characters is fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars MAD FOR Regency June 3, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am loving the Kellington series with each edition. Vanessa and Arthur were a good match. The family are very understanding of others in the lower classes. I hope Hal's story is next but anxious for the Duke 's story as well. Congrats Maureen. Excellent writing.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book May 17, 2014

This writer's stories are always great and this series is so much fun but I personally do not care for the explicit sex words she uses. I think they are uncalled for and do not add a thing to the story. In fact,I think they take away from her delightful writing.

Enjoyable romp where heroine is supported in her role by the 'family hero'. If you are reading the series this is a nice page turner.
