Fun, but you should still stay away,

As a long time RPG fan, I found this game great. It reminded me of many great games I had played in the past. The graphics are sub-par to the current standards, but the gameplay is fun. Unfortunately, I must recommend everyone away from this game simply due to the number of bugs. Yes, there are the crash-to-windows bugs, the plot-necessary items not showing up correctly, and so forth, but more than that are the game killers. I played for about an hour and a half building my character and exploring the game only to have all my saves (from about the last 30 minutes) become corrupt, twice. I checked for patches, but the US version is considered up to date and all patches are for earlier European versions. Actually, only the german version can apply the latest patch, which came out early in 2006. After tranlating and attempting to read work-arounds to the several known game killing bugs in the German forums, I gave it another shot. Yet even following all the listed advice, my saved game were corrupted. Hence, a long rant about a fun, but not really playable game.

Good concept, but implementation falls flat,

I bought this game based solely on the description on the box. I expected a game that had a trailing camera with good graphics, interesting combat, and an engaging storyline. I came away disappointed. The most disappointing aspect of the game is the combat engine. Instead of a realtime hand-to-hand combat system, combat is turn-based. This in itself is not a problem. However, when engaged in combat, the participants run forward, take a swing, and run back. They take turns doing this until someone drops. The whole scenario comes across almost like a game of turn-based bumper cars. Another issue with combat is the unexpected encounters that occur. In the opening stages of the game, the character must wander about in the woods, and very frequently the travel is interrupted by a message to prepare for combat. Often, that there are enemies nearby is a surprise as they do not show until the battle is joined. This kind of encounter occurs throughout the game. Combat is often imbalanced as well. It is too easy to die. The dialog options are somewhat uninspired as well, and the main character frequently talks to herself when trying to interact with inanimate objects. This is disconcerting, if nothing else. There are good and bad aspects to the graphics. The graphics engine itself is good, and the rendered graphical images are very pretty and inspiring. There is plenty of eye candy in this game for those that like pretty graphics and lots of detail. However, one aspect of the graphics that is frustrating is the changing camera perspective. It switches automatically from a side view to a top-down view depending on area transitions, and in the top-down view it is difficult to tell where the player is going and what is in the surrounding area. The storyline itself is engaging, and the developer did a nice job with it. Some of the side quests leave much to be desired, though, so it is a mixed bag in terms of gameplay. If I had to compare it to other games in the same general genre, I would describe it as a hybrid mix between Dungeon Siege and Arcanum. Unfortunately it borrows a little too heavily from Arcanum's pitfalls. I came away disappointed with this title. It has some good ideas and concepts that have been incorporated into it, but the implementation of those ideas make it less than ideal. Some players may find this game to be a refreshing change from 1st-person style gaming, but I found it to be clunky and awkward. I would recommend this title only to those who want to explore the storyline and are not too concerned about the implementation.

Under-Rated...This is not 'Neverwinter Nights', nor is it 'Dungeon Siege'......,

I've read a few reviews on this game across the WEB before i purchased it and i have to say, in my OPINION (and it's my opinion only) that this game got some unfair ratings right out of the starting gate. First of all, if your'e looking for another 'Neverwinter Night's' or 'Dungeon Siege' clone...keep looking. This game has a completely different (yet OLD STYLE) turned-based combat system...sort of like playing a console RPG on the PC. If you enjoy console RPG's ( as i do), you'll enjoy this game and the latter won't bother you in the least bit. The graphics are nicely done and the story-although not top notch, but it's original, which is a breath of fresh air in these days. Let's face it PC RPG's with an original storyline is a rarity, especially with game companies each trying to out-do each other to see just how much Graphic power they can crunch out and making the story an after-thought. With the exception being games such as Morrowind-"Oblivion"...Oh course, but games like 'Oblivion' are too far and in between. Then why only 4STARS as an over-all rating? Well, just like the many other games that are created by companies such as this, it has it's MANY bugs. Over-seas game developers have always had there problems when trying to convert certain aspects of coding to run on U.S PC's,this goes all the way back to the OLD-'DOS' Days. But besides that and the fact that the controls are a wee bit slow in responding (this can get fustrating in the beginning), the game has some pretty playable and good qualities that will keep your intrest.I haven't downloaded the U.S patch for this game yet (I'M about half way thru it according to the faq i got from [...]), but i advise anyone who buys this game to go to [...] and link up to download the patch. I'm playing this one of my old PC's-a Dell Dimen.2400 w/ 1GB Ram-VisionTek Raedeon 9250 80gb HD and it plays fine. I dare not play certain games on my High-End PC due to bugs in certain games so i test them out first on the Dell. Any-Hoo,until ('NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2','GOTHIC 3'&Might and Magic-'Dark Messiah'), try this one out. If anthing,it's original. F.Y.I-There is no official strategy guide for this game on any site that I've checked- so go to [...]. No strategy guide for a brand new game....WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?????-Darvius9
