3.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful music
However the vocals are really a turn off for me. The singer sounds as if maybe she needs a little more vocal training, especially in control. The singing has a tendency to get a annoying after a while. I believe this CD would have been much better if it had just been the music, which is really beautiful and different from much of what I've ever heard.

This isn't an "Unplugged" album featuring only Jillian and her piano. Many of the songs sounds like a full band recorded them. She works really hard to add depth and complexity to the numbers.

"Neverland" is definitely an alternative album. Very eclectic, similar to New Age techno. And it takes a while to get used to. Simply because you won't hear anything like it on the radio. Which makes it fascinating. Listening to this CD demands your full attention. In order to fully appreciate the sonic landscape, you should listen through headphones with your eyes closed.

My overall impression is that Jillian Ann is a very gifted musician. She has a talent for composing and arranging great music. Her piano playing is very dramatic and moving. The techno beats can sound a bit cold and disconnected. However, her piano playing is so heartfelt and sincere it helps adds an emotional resonance.

"Neverland" is a remarkable first step in Jillian Ann's musical evolution. I highly recommend this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jillann Ann puts out some really good avant pop..., August 25, 2003

Jillann Ann puts out some really good avant pop...

My fave tracks are "Fragile", "Vapour", "Precious"...
If I had to compare her to someone, she comes closes to Tori Amos in her style/presentation of her music...

Jillian Ann is also an artist, model + much more...

I would definitely recommend you pick this cd up...

In spite of her youth, Jillian Ann has remarkable artistic credits to her name, as a writer/poet, model/photographer, painter and now once more as an avant-garde musician. In this unique album she bares her mind and soul, which are every bit as beautiful as her exterior. Highly recommended listening. Check out the title track.

I started listening to Jillian Ann's music about 6 months ago. I was instantly hooked on her style. Her music is smooth and relaxing most of the time. I just ordered this CD and can't wait to get it. I bought her other cd, Elucido: Beta, and have completely worn it out already. Jillian Ann, Keep up the good work!

4.0 out of 5 stars Something Ethereal, January 23, 2005

Jillian Ann's music delves deep into the murky territory of grey light that is intrinsic yet elusive to the most passionate. Jillian captures something ethereal with Neverland. "Precious" conjures such cold images in the heated friction of the sliced-up beats soaked in her intense sensuality.

In comparison to her work with Sean Allen Fenn & the Maids of Dishonor on "Sunlight", from the EP The Gutters of Heaven, Jillian's raw untamed feminity cannot be subdued.

5.0 out of 5 stars Composer, April 5, 2005

I think it's somewhat a mistake to say "Jillian Ann has launched herself into the world of music". I think of her music as her primary art... Her compositions are both original and evocative and draw you in to repeated listenings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great album., September 17, 2003
This review is from: Neverland (Audio CD)
Jillian Ann's music is ethereal yet strong. Her voice is appealing and smooth.

"Never Enough" is an electronica song of self assurance. Jillian Ann's voice weaves in and out of the clicking beats like a siren.

"System" is a ghostly song with distant murmuring vocals. It could be a Massive Attack remix of a long lost Cocteau Twins demo.

"Little Space" has vocal like the Cranes' Alison Shaw. The backing is a techno thud.

"Help Me" is an impossibly moving plea. Jillian Ann makes it beautiful and desperate.

"Reconnect" is darkly appealing with Jillian Ann's vocal sounding child-like and spooky.

"Neverland" is a remarkable album.
