Changing your life by changing your perspective,
By Dina Gribbins (Shepherdsville, KY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nevertheless: Discover personal strength in one word (Words of Life) (Hardcover)
Dr. Rutland's work, Nevertheless, draws a crystal clear picture of the power of a single word! "Nevertheless". The author uses everyday scenerioes to parallel what may be "fact" and then dispute it by what is actually "truth". A simple way to describe this work is by example. Ex: The Doctor steps into the room and tells you the tests results have come back positive for ____ (The Fact) - however - (The Truth) is "by His (Christ) stripes, you are healed".We are faced with facts all day everyday, however, truth - the real truth, who is Christ, when He said "it is finished" meant I believe if the person reading this book agrees that the Word of God (who was made flesh and dwelt among us) is that Truth, then they will enjoy this work tremendously - and hopefully have a changed perspective on the certain facts of their life.

Nevertheless . . . The Foundation of the Lord Stands Sure,
This review is from: Nevertheless: Discover personal strength in one word (Words of Life) (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book that gives insight into how to handle the enemy with one little word; nevertheless. I was unable to put it down. I feel so much more knowledgeable now as to how to handle the enemy, especially when I'm up against adversity or even someone who wants to debate God and His word. Dr. Mark Rutland has such a gift when it comes to words and his little dialogues with God in this book were amusing and insightful. I would recommend this book to Christians of any age or level of experience in their walk with God.

I loved this book! Mark Rutland was truly an open conduit to our Father's message. I love the size of the book and ease of reading, as well as, the empowerment offered through Mr. Rutland's love for the Word. I plan to read more of his collection... with great anticipation & excitement!

What a powerful little book of 85 pages. Mark Rutland takes the word, "nevertheless," as it appears in the KJV of the Bible. For example, in quoting 2Timothy 2:19, he discusses how we have an unshakable foundation, although everything around us may be crumbling. That verse says, "Nevertheless the foundation of the Lord standeth sure."
This is more than a devotion book. It digs out some nuggets of truth for the Christian walk. It hits on the dynamics of faith and victory in Christ.

Very poorly/over written--in fact, almost unreadable,

Some teachers are better verbal teachers than when they write a book, and I'm guessing Mark fits here.
I saw him speak and thought he was GREAT--wonderful and personal insights that really spoke to me. So I decided to purchase one of his books so I ordered NEVERTHELESS but barely made it out of the Introduction. He tends to overwrite to such a degree that it makes it almost impossible to follow his point because you're so twisted up in his words. For example: "I actually fancied, in that quixotic moment..." and no one ever "says" -- they "retort" "boast" -- and "howling demons dance around Him in His agony. Mind- torturing mental images rip at the edges of His soul." "Rip at the edges of his soul?" "Quixotic"? It's as if he used a thesaurus five or six times per sentence. And it's in ever single sentence. I hoped he would calm down after the Introduction, but the first few chapters are all the same--terribly written/overwritten and almost impossible to follow. I give up. If you get a chance to hear Mark speak, go for it. As for his books, skip `em.
