5.0 out of 5 stars Classic of the Ages
Watch the video at the top of the page; that's what sealed the deal for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was great for awhile
It was challenging in the beginning. Most people I handed it over to couldn't figure it out. You have to think very spatially. After awhile you learn that some of the shapes can only fit in certain places and that helps. I think people will either find it too tedious or eventually too repetitious. But if you are looking for a good puzzle game then it is great for short...

Watch the video at the top of the page; that's what sealed the deal for me.

This is an ancient Chinese game played with tangrams, and will be familiar to many people already. Of all of the DS games that "anyone" could just pick up and play, this one takes the cake. You don't really have to like video games at all to enjoy this. The skills needed to be really good at the harder puzzles are also tested in standard IQ tests, which means this game really does start to challenge your gray matter sometimes. It's also done in an intentionally relaxing manner, so it's always more fun than it is stressing which is extremely rare for video games. The presentation, just like the game itself, is very "bare bones" and may bore people looking for more bells and whistles. The music is best when it's turned off, which is actually cool if you want to listen to your own music because there's no need at all to hear anything in this game. If you're looking for excitement, this isn't it. If you're looking for a simple, laid back brain challenger, try this out.

This game is great! I wish I had gotten it sooner. Great for visual spacial learners or people with those kinds of LD's. I love love love this little puzzle game. The pieces you use make up the pattern on the picture shown on this page. I only gave it 4 stars because I've been playing Rayman Rabbids 2 lately and that game makes me laugh like a fool.

Check youtube for a video: search "neves nintendo ds". That was the kicker for me...after watching that I knew I had to have this game.

Check back I'll try to post a couple more photos.

Neves is worth buying if you enjoy puzzle games. You use the same basic shapes in order to create 500 different figures. You start off with an outline and it is up to you to fit the shapes in in order to completely fill the given outline. Some are easier than others. While others have been pretty challenging to complete. Simple interface to use. The only negative is the theme music which I'm sure you'll mute after a while. Worth the money. I've enjoyed it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy but pleasing, June 19, 2008

I purchased this thinking it would probably either be not challenging enough or would be frustrating -- i.e. puzzles too hard to be fun or that would be timed so that I'd have to keep trying the same puzzle over & over again until I beat a time-clock.

While there is an optional time-challenge mode, this is actually a nice litle leisurely puzzle game. I'm a 40-something who is used to 'doing' something on the evenings my spouse & I watch TV -- I'm usually paying bills or catching up on family emails or whatever -- and this little game gives me something to do with my brain when I don't have other pressing things to handle during TV-time.

I'm about half-way thru Level 2, and it's still pretty easy, but occasionally you do get a head-scratcher and have been pleasantly surprised at how this game makes you approach a problem in different ways.

Knowing about it as I now do, I would definitely have still made the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great "Eureka!" game, and I finally "got" the title...., July 17, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

It's amazing that this game has so many puzzles that use the same seven pieces. Even though one piece is a pretty big honker and you can usually figure out where it goes pretty quick, it's trying to fit the remaining pieces that's so much maddening fun.

A couple times you may even think to yourself that a particular puzzle is impossible to solve with those seven pieces, but then when the solution finally dawns on you, you'll have an "Eureka!" moment that makes the game well worth playing and well worth the price.

Just watch the video and you'll know if it's your type of game - but you probably won't find this one locally and the publisher is obscure, so you may want to grab it while it's available...

Plus, if you've been wondering where they got the name "NEVES" from, it should become clear after reading the manual (that's when you'll probably have a "D'oh" moment).

Minus one star overall for the music - like another review said, you'll soon turn it off.

This sounds totally wierd for this kind of genre, however if you are trying to quit (or cut down), this game is perfect. It is challenging, but you can do it while watching TV or not. IT KEEPS YOUR HANDS AND MIND BUSY!!!
I have found the DS in general, and many others, (Mario stuff, Zelda, Brain Age, puzzle games etc.) to calm me down from high anxiety days at work. I am 50 years old and would not go to a Dr.'s office or the DMV without it. It makes you feel good. And smokers, good luck!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Neves is like Tangoes and is highly addicting!, March 15, 2008

This review is from: Neves (Video Game)
I took this game on a trip to Mexico, it sure helped out with making traveling time go buy quicker. Only problem was I had to share it with my husband and when I fell asleep he couldn't put it down and cleared a whole level without me. But, it wasn't so bad cause you can always go back and play them again. If you like puzzle games and have some patience because some of the puzzles are difficult this is the game for you. It is just like the game Tangoes if you know what game that is. You have 7 tiles of the same shapes that form hundreds of pictures. The game provides the silhoutte and you have to place the tiles correctly to make the picture. You could play this over and over again because there are so many puzzles that by the time you did one over you wouldn't remember how to solve it unless of course you have a photographic memory. Sometimes I got a little frustrated and found myself saying I hate this game. But, it was inevitable I kept playing it anyway and have to give it a 5 for it's addictiveness, help with passing time, and keeping my husband busy while I rested!

This game provides the silhoutte and you have to place the tiles correctly to make the picture. You would not believe how only a few pieces could make so many puzzles! I like this game because you can play this over and over again and by the time you re-do a puzzle again you will not remember how to solve it! This game is challenging, but you can do it while watching TV or sitting in an physician's office and not mind the long waiting time for your appointment. It will keep your hands and your mind very busy. You don't have to like video games at all to enjoy this game. Very addictive but the most fun to play.

Don't buy this thinking that youre 4 year old loves these kind of games. They will glaze over like a doughnut in one minute. Get this for yourself and when the little stinker is in bed sneak her console out and play this! Its alot of fun once you get the hang of it but a warning, it will make you feel stupid sometimes too!
