1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with the quality July 3, 2010
Verified Purchase
I was looking for a shower for my old tub. It's not a claw foot tub but it is the original cast iron tub in my circa 1930's home. I ordered it because it was one of the cheapest -- my first mistake. I ordered it despite the reviews stating that others buyers had issues with stripped heads -- my second mistake.

I took an afternoon to install it. The faucet was great. It installed very easily and works well. The installation of the faucet took about forty-five minutes. The shower riser took quite a bit longer because I was unable to get it installed to my satisfaction. It is very poor quality product. The shower rod is the same. Every single screw stripped. The shower riser constantly leaked. I even bought extra teflon tape because I didn't know that kit came with it and that did nothing. I think that there's a flaw in the riser and the threads are leaking because they're misaligned but I can't say for certain because I got so frustrated that I just gave up and took the riser and shower rod apart and put them away. The shower rod did not fit inside of the holder that went on the top part of the riser. It was also very poor quality metal.

I may attempt it another time but the shower rod is not usable. It's garbage and I'm frustrated with the waste of money. I also now have holes in my walls and ceiling that need to be patched because of my failed installation of the shower rod and riser. I did need the new faucet and I'm happy with that but I probably could have gotten the same quality faucet for a quarter of the price or an fancy faucet for the same price that I paid for the entire kit. All in all I would not recommend this product. It's probably one of those times where you need to go to the home improvement store and get your hands on it before you make the decision to buy so that you ultimately know exactly what you're getting.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works..My Gma had the same one up for years.. January 20, 2014

Not the best but for the money I believe its worth it. First we got this cause my Gma had one for her claw foot tub and had it up for a couple years with no problems. She passed and it got taken down and thrown. Well my fiancee and I moved into her house for now till shes done with school and we wanted a shower.
So we found this one, pretty cheap compared to what some of those other's cost OMG. It isn't a brand new tub and we aren't going to live here forever so we decided to go with this one. She basically had this same one, but I found the oval to hang the curtain on this one was a couple inches bigger which I found was good.
TOOLS I used: Philips and flat head (smaller flat head) screwdrivers, hacksaw (to cut post to hang and stabilize), marker to use to measure length needed to cut, a level, 10" adjustable wrench, bigger pliers, and a measuring tape.
INSTALLATION: I replaced the faucet which wasn't to hard at all. From there I put the pipes together for the shower spout and screwed that onto the faucet. I leveled the spout and the post to hang in the front, Measured and cut the rod to size then screwed into the wall. Make sure you don't cut the rods short or you will be screwed. I put the curtain rod together and connected it to the front. Measured and cut the 2nd rod and screwed that into the ceiling. That was about it. I did this myself but would have gone much faster and better if there was a second person to help.
My fiancee used it 10 mins after we put on the curtains and worked flawless. Like I said I used one like this before and it held up good for the cost. The rods are skinny but pretty solid. the rods would be my only concern in any of this. Well hope i helped ya decide to get or not to..Thanks

3.0 out of 5 stars Good product, needs some re-design August 25, 2010
Verified Purchase
This product seemed to be the ideal solution for my situation. It was cheap, seemed good quaility and easy to install. The divertor valve in my opinion was good value. My gripe about this product is that the designers expect the shower hoop to stay up with just a "set scew" on the vertical support. There is no way that it could ever handle the load of a curtain and its own weight. When i attempted to tighten the set screw it stripped. I had to modify it and drill a hole all the way through the vertical support and use a nut and bolt. If i hadn't done this it would have fell off the ceiling. Once i did this, it worked out great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal November 8, 2008

We needed something fast and inexpensive as we bought a house and had to have a shower for a claw foot tub. It went up pretty easily and is still going great after over 2 months and five people using it daily(if not more than once a day)!

2.0 out of 5 stars Returned without installing June 4, 2013

I didn't even try to hang it. The photo shows the rods that attach the ring to the wall and ceiling are fairly substantial. The actual rods they sent are these little, flimsy, 1/4 inch things that I could tell would not be able to hold up 2 shower curtain liners and 1 curtain, which is required for this type of rod.

To the company's credit, the illustration on the outside of the box, and in the instructions shows similar hardware to that in the photo, so maybe their supplier changed the attachment parts without telling them.

It's been a great product. We had to purchase clamps to secure it to the wall and purchase a new shower head but otherwise it's been a good product.
