Nancy has put her heart into this book. She shares with us her struggles as she seeks to know God's will for her. She also strives to find spiritual lessons and healing in every difficulty that life presents. Even after she finds help in spiritual disciplines that are not acknowledged in her traditional church, Nancy refuses to abandon the community of faith where her commitment to the Spirit was first awakened.
In addition to being inspiring, A New Age Christian is interspersed with information about some of the beliefs and practices of the various New Age or Metaphysical groups. The discussions about reincarnation, the law of cause and effect, and meditation were particularly interesting to me. While every reader will view what others believe through their own filters, Nancy's sincerity made it easy to read things that I did not fully understand without being judgemental.
This book should be a wake up call to both Christians and New Age seekers alike. Church members are challenged to be more aware that there are those in their congregations who want a deeper understanding of spiritual truths. New Age believers might realize from Nancy's example that there can be spiritual growth within some churches. All are challenged to see the best in others and to work actively to acknowledge their common interest in spiritual growth.

This seemingly modern day version of JOB has something for everyone. The author's teaching about God's Love incorporates her knowledge of metaphysics, astrology and numerology. Through her personal experiences we come to realize that God is truly the Source of all our Good and our role in allowing that Good to manifest in our lives. This is a book to keep on the bedside table or in the backpack to be read again and again.

We all have questions about spiritual teachings, I was raised in a traditional church and always had many questions. Nancy's book leads you through the questioning using the Bible. It is one of the few books of this nature that uses the Bible to back up her answers. A wonderful book that lets you know you are not the only one asking questions, and thinking beyond what you are taught in most churches. Nancy's book also explains the role played by astrology and reincarnation from a Biblical point of view.

A New Age Christian was just the book I needed for my own spiritual journey. Thank you, Nancy!

Reverend Detweiler has certainly done her research! Her graduate degrees in education and in divinity, offer the reader the benefit of a knowledgeable and balanced perspective. This book is well-written and very understandable. Rev. Detweiler bridges the gap between "old" and "new" thought in the areas of spirituality, religion, metaphysics, astrology and more. She also shares her personal spiritual journey in such a friendly, warm and honest way that you almost feel that you have travelled right along beside her! This book is a "must read" especially for new seekers longing for explanations and spiritual guidance in this New Age. There is a veritable wealth of invaluable information in this wonderful book, which you will want to pick up and refer to again and again.
