5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bible
Love this bible for personal study, also has catholic prayers in the front, font is a little small but the quality out weighs the lack of font size. This is a high quality bible and 20 dollars cheaper than alot of other vendors , same bible used in the mass of the catholic church.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for rough hands, February 17, 2007

The New American Bible is one of the best translations of the Scriptures out there. It is used in the Lectionary for the Mass of the Catholic Church. This publication, however can be difficult to read and handle, due primarily to a small font size and very thin pages. The soft leather cover attracts scratches quite easily, but I can say that it is very attractive (turquoise and black). The fact that the notes and comments for certain verses appear at the end of each book makes reading the references a little difficult. I find myself having to turn to the back of each book constantly to see the translator's comments. If you don't need the notes, this is great for you! It truly is a reader's edition. If you are new to the Bible, I would recommend a version where the notes and Scriptural references appear at the bottom of each page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beatiful Leather NAB Holy Bible, March 8, 2007
Very happy as the quality of the leather is impeccable and it grips well in the hand. Two toned brown is stylish too. Catholic Prayers inside this Edition makes it complete and universal. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Translation, March 12, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have other Bibles and will check my understanding by cross-referencing between them. This is a beautiful translation and very easy to understand.

As a book, it is built to last, with the leather cover and good quality paper.

The only criticism so far with it is the type size is a bit small for me. It is a good size for reference tho, and with larger type it might not be.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bible for reading, March 26, 2007
This Bible is in a wonderful leather cover with a good matte texture. Unlike many Bibles I've seen, the textual interpretation notes are collected at the end of each book. I prefer this, as I tend to get distracted by these notes when I'm reading. The lectionary at the end is useful for previewing the readings that will be proclaimed at Mass. The sides of the pages bear index tabs, but the Catholic books (e.g., Wisdom, Sirach) are not included on the tabs (the books are included in the Bible, but you'll have to remember their locations in the Old Testament).

The one caveat with this Bible is that the pages are quite thin - I end up turning the pages very carefully. The thin pages make for a very compact Bible - only about 1-1/4" thick including the cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars The New American Bible, Reader's Edition, November 30, 2009

The New American Bible, Reader's Edition is a great bible! This is a great edition for someone who wants to read daily. The print is a great size and the cover is beautiful. This is a very sturdy bible and includes a nice family record in the front. I bought one for my husband and after it came in I went back and immediately bought one for myself. We take them everywhere and we would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Author(s) lol!, January 20, 2008
Reviewing the content aside the outside of this Bible is in a elegant yet sturdy leather binding. It's abit more modern then the usual pitch black cover of a bible, with nice shades of blue. It's made for catholics (Nicene creed/ Our Father and more prayers inside) but any Christian denomination will find it works just fine.

The cover of this book is what makes it special. The quality and the color of leather cover are exceptional. I was able to have it embossed at a local merchant, it all turned out beautiful as a gift for my wife. I recommend this item as a great value, good price, great quality!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gold edge, thin leaf paper WITH a concordance, leather bound, December 29, 2008
By
This reader's edition of the New American Bible exceeded my expectations. It is beautifully made, with gold edges and thin leaf paper, leather bound. It rests in the hand very nicely. Plus, it has tabs and a useful concordance (or index to verses of the Bible, by word or phrase) at the end of book. The print is small, but clear and even, a good example of the typographer's art. One minor caveat: The footnotes and scholarly apparatus that commonly appear at the bottom of each page in all RSV-style Bibles have been consolidated at the end of each book, i.e., all of Matthew's notes at the end of Matthew, etc. The NAB is, of course, the standard Catholic Bible for English-speakers these days. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars High quality, December 7, 2008

Gorgeous leather cover. Fine quality paper. Be sure to follow instructions for highlighting text - use ball point pen and not a marker as it will bleed through thin paper. Tabs handy but a bit hard to read for middle-aged eyes!
