4.0 out of 5 stars A Bit on the Ugly Side But Easy for Kids to Learn, May 14, 2011
This review is from: New American Cursive I (Ring-bound)
I picked up "New American Cursive" out of desperation after trying to teach my 8 y.o. via the Peterson Directed Handwriting method & experiencing major meltdowns on her part. Her main complaints about Peterson were that there were "too many loops" and that the letters were "too slanted". NAC is a very much streamlined cursive and it has only a slight slant. My daughter *LOVES* it. I personally think it's a bit on the ugly side, but at this point, I'd take a legible-but-ugly cursive over a pretty font that she is unwilling or unable to write.

I did draw the line at NAC's capital F, Q, T, and Z and insist that my daughter learn more traditional-looking versions of those. NAC's versions are basically slanted manuscript and I'm not okay with that.
