5.0 out of 5 stars A double edged butterfly knife wherever you go!, May 29, 2000
This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
This is a very nice bible. 13.1cm x 2.5cm x 8.7cm. It's the revised version of the NASB, so "thee" and "thy" are now "you" and "your". NASB is more word for word translation compaired to the NIV, so it's very accurate and very good for in-depth Bible studies. This edition is burgundy bonded leather, has words of Jesus in red, footnotes for clarification of text where especially required, words not found in but implied by original languages italicized, New Testament quoting or referencing Old Testament in small caps, asterisks that mark verbs that are historical presents (translated for modern usage), and the verses are easy to find in the small text because they are indented; all in one little book. (Paragraphs are indicated by bold face verse numbers.) Very nicely put together. Very convenient due to its small size. Carry it wherever you go to study and for the spreading of the Gospel. "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever."--Isaiah 40:8 God bless!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Book Ever Written - Fits in your back pocket!, November 6, 1999
This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
This is a handy edition of the Bible. It is the New American Standard Bible (NASB) version, so it is a very accurate translation from the original languages. It is easier to read than the King James, since it does not use anachronisms like "thee" and "thy" (except in the Psalms). It is very nice to be able to fit the entire Bible in my pocket. It's about the same size as a fat wallet. The zipper helps protect it, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect size, August 27, 2002

This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
I purchased this Bible a year ago and I take with me everywhere I go. It is small enough that it fits in my back pocket, yet the font is large enough and clear enough to read easily. Also, having it readily avaiable allows me to share passages with others when the opportunity arises. I prefer the NASB version over other versions because it's very closely translated from the origional languages making word studies easier. I have been very pleased with it's durability. It has a nice sturdy zipper case that handles everyday use well. I would recommend this Bible to anyone who is looking for a pocket size complete Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Power on the go, November 30, 2000
By

This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
The NASB Pocket Bible tops all bibles in its category because of two things first, it has the clearest textype of any pocket bible in the market. I should know having collected pocket bibles for the past 20 years. Next, the NASB update is the most accurate readable literal version of the sacred scriptures on print. The Word of God is the most potent spirtual weapon available and packs dynamite. I think the word handy is an understatement. When I need to look up the word of God for inpsiration or encouragement I just reach for my pocket and draw my NASB POcket bible. Now that's power on the go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable Text, Durable Bible!, March 19, 2005
This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
Whatever happened to zippered Bibles? They were so common when I was a little kid (and I had/have one). They are so practical because they protect so well. I was delighted to find the NASB Updated translation in a zipper version. It travels in my briefcase where a regular Bible would get its edges all messed up. I would've been happy with a simulated leather cover for this use, but the bonded leather is okay. Small print, but I can read it easily without my bifocals. As for the translation, either you want the most accurate or you don't. I'm no genius but I don't need a 'readable' Bible--this one reads just fine for me. I have been an owner of the 'old' NASB and rarely can I tell the difference between the two. Highly recommended for a Bible on the go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Way To Share His Word, November 2, 2005
This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
In my experience, this could be the best Bible to share His Word with. Rather than reaching for a huge black giant print Bible that literally "thumps" into your hand, this tiny little Bible (that I find very easy to read with bifocals and 50 year old eyes) just is NOT intimidating to someone showing an initial interst in God's Word. The most likely response becomes, "Is that the entire Bible? Can it really be that small?" Suddenly, the Holy Bible seems a lot less intimidating to a potental new Christian. Their next response will likely be, "Can I see it?" ...and there is the true value and the simple wonder of this nicely made little Bible. I guarantee you'll feel wonderful when you see someone take His Word into their hands for perhaps the very first time and when they do, filled with curiosity and free of any intimidation, its a very good thing. I truly believe that there is a special power when someone is willing (and even wanting) to take a Bible into their own hands. That's also a wonderful time to give it away, so buy several of these tiny yet Powerful Bibles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but small, March 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
I have good eyes so I don't have a problem reading it, but I have to move it close to my face and it's not exactly pleasant for casual reading. I'd imagine it would strain the eyes for too much reading. Still, every NASB reader (with good eyes or glasses) should own one. Oh yes the clip that holds the covers together when not in use is great because it stops the pages getting crumpled.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Bible, July 17, 2002

This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
This is the full Bible but it is small enough to fit in your shirt pocket. Most Bibles this size only contain the new testament. The only "complaint" I have is that the text is very small. Its definitely NOT for someone with bad eyes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pocket Bible, November 3, 2006
This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
I was looking for the right Bible to be able to stick in my pocket and take with me anywhere. This one is great. It zips up to protect the pages, the cover is durable, and it's just the right size (for what I wanted to do with it).

5.0 out of 5 stars Used mine for 6 years and still don't really want to trade up..., July 19, 2010
This review is from: New American Standard '95 Pocket Bible: Burgundy Bonded Leather with Zipper (Leather Bound)
These are very easy to use and carry, with pages for notes in the back and a zipper to hold in bookmarks, papers, or even to keep valuables safe.

My Dad bought mine in 2004 and I've read, written and throughly enjoyed it for 6 years now, it would be a blessing to fine another for $23 so I would have the pleasure of giving them to my kids and friends of the family.
