3.0 out of 5 stars Creationism For the Win!
When Ken Ham sets out to write a book rebutting the claims of all those so-called scientists (as if one could study science without reading Genesis!), he doesn't go in blind. In fact, he has a framework in mind and that framework is the Bible. With Satan on the attack (as Ham has already chronicled in his book "Already Gone"), the last thing the children of God can do...

5.0 out of 5 stars Creation vs Evolution: answers to tough questions., May 7, 2010
This review is from: New Answers Book Part 3 (Paperback)
If you are an evolutionist who doesn't want to read about creation, this is not the book for you. If you don't want to read about creation point of view, this is not the book for you. If you want to get answers from a Biblical Creationist point of view, this book is for you.

The world around us provides irrefutable evidence of our Creator, but when challenged, can you defend your faith? Do you have answers to your own questions or those of your family about faith, evolution, creation, and a biblical worldview?

The New Answers Book 3 includes questions and answers for topics such as : Global warming, the existence of God, questions for evolutionists, human and chimp DNA, Kinds in Genesis, Mount St Helens and the Grand Canyon, cloning and stem cells, bacteria and viruses, issues of eugenics and abortion, the universe - young or old?, what Noah s Ark looked like...and much more.

This book will help teach you how to be more effective in defense of scriptural authority and the truth of Genesis as literal history. This is not a book that you sit down and read like a novel. It takes time to digest all of the information being presented. It is a good book to have in your library for those times when you find yourself faced with tough questions that you may not know how to answer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Want Answers?, September 5, 2010
This review is from: New Answers Book Part 3 (Paperback)
Our family enjoys studying the Bible and apologetics. We believe it is important to be well-equipped to share and defend our faith...to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." (1 Peter 3:15) The New Answers Book 3 offers answers to 38 questions on creation/evolution and the Bible. The readers get to learn from various authors/creation scientists such as Ken Ham, Dr. Andrew A. Snelling, Dr. John D. Morris, Dr. Terry Mortenson, Dr. Jason Lisle, Dr. Don B. DeYoung, Dr. Tommy Mitchell, Dr. Georgia Purdom, Dr. David Menton, and more. The topics they cover include global warming, human and chimp DNA, Mount St. Helens and the Grand Canyon, cloning and stem cells, issues of eugenics and abortion, Noah's Ark and the Flood, the Garden of Eden, fossils, cosmology, unicorns, bacteria and viruses, slavery, and more. This book is loaded with valuable information and sprinkled with black and white photos and illustrations. I enjoyed learning new things and now I know where to look if/when certain questions arise. Some scientific stuff went over my head but most of the information is explained in a way that even people without a scientific background can understand. I think it would be better if the book had a glossary for difficult scientific terms :). I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in learning how to defend the Biblical worldview more effectively.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, solid answers to a variety of questions, June 9, 2010
By
Debbie (Harrison, AR United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This review is from: New Answers Book Part 3 (Paperback)
"The New Answers Book 3" is a collection of 38 articles written by 24 people on topics related to the Bible, mostly covering questions that critics of the Bible and of biblical accuracy would ask. This book teaches Christians how to more effectively argue for the accuracy of the Bible.

Each chapter was an article that covered a different topic. Some of these topics overlapped a bit, so some foundational information was briefly repeated by several authors in their different articles. However, it was information worth repeating. Most of the articles--even the slightly more technical articles--were written at a level that a teenager could easily understand. However, a few of the articles assumed the reader knew some basic, technical terms and used them without defining them. I had no trouble following those articles, but I took a lot of science classes in college. There were black and white illustrations for each article.

I found the book interesting and, overall, the arguments were easy to follow. The majority of the articles had strong arguments and were well-supported. A few of them could have been stronger, in my opinion, but part of the problem was the limited space. The answers couldn't be comprehensive, so they gave as much information as most Christians would probably care to know.

I'd recommend this book to Christians who want to be able to better answer critical questions about the Bible and to those who genuinely want to learn the answers to any of the questions covered.

The articles: Where was the Garden of Eden located? What did Noah's Ark look like? Should Christians be pushing to have creation taught in government schools? What are "kinds" in Genesis? How could Noah fit the animals on the ark? Was the Flood of Noah global or local in extent? Is man the cause of global warming? Did Bible authors believe in a literal genesis? Do fossils show signs of rapid burial? What about the similarity between human and chimp DNA? Was there death before Adam sinned? Abortion: Is it really a matter of life and death? Is the Christian Worldview logical? What about cloning and stem cells? How old does the earth look? Does Evolution have a...chance? (i.e. the probability of it) What about Eugenics and Planned Parenthood? When and how did the Grand Canyon form? Does astronomy confirm a young universe? How could fish survive the Genesis Flood? What about cosmology? Did life come from outer space? Did the continents split apart in the days of Peleg? Vestigial organs--evidence for Evolution? Is Tiktaalik Evolution's greatest Missing Link? Why is Mount St. Helens important to the origins controversy? What is the best argument for the existence of God? Do Evolutionists believe Darwin's ideas about Evolution? What are some of the best Flood evidences? What are some good questions to ask an Evolutionist? What about bacteria? Unicorns in the Bible? Doesn't the Bible support slavery? Why did God make viruses? Wasn't the Bible written by mere men? Isn't the God of the Old Testament harsh, brutal, and downright evil? Who sinned first--Adam or Satan? How can someone start a new life in Christ?

I already had the first two books and loved them. This one is just as good, you might even think it is the best yet. What this book will do is give you answers about creation/evolution/Biblical accuracy that are easy to understand and easy to explain to others.

I was amazed when reading this book how sound, technical, and thorough this book is when looking for answers about creation. It was a required read in my Scientific Origins class for college. Excellent choice! I believe everyone's concerns can soundly be put to rest after reading this book. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Resource, May 22, 2010
This review is from: New Answers Book Part 3 (Paperback)
Yet another very strong offering from Ken Ham and other scientists. If you have questions about the Bible or about life in general, I would highly recommend all three books in the "Answers" series. Evolution theory had a shaky foundation from the start, but the evidence against it is now overwhelming. As the mountain of evidence keeps growing, the "Answers" series just keeps growing! Dig deeper and discover the truth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Creationism For the Win!, March 17, 2010
This review is from: New Answers Book Part 3 (Paperback)
When Ken Ham sets out to write a book rebutting the claims of all those so-called scientists (as if one could study science without reading Genesis!), he doesn't go in blind. In fact, he has a framework in mind and that framework is the Bible. With Satan on the attack (as Ham has already chronicled in his book "Already Gone"), the last thing the children of God can do is sit idly by while the authority of the Bible is undermined by science. Remember, True Science(tm) always confirms the literal truth of the Bible.

In this top-tier science text put out by that pinnacle of scientific publishers - Master Books (the same folks who bring us the genius of Ray Comfort) -- we have many very important scientific questions answered, such as "Was there death before Adam sinned?" One would think that "science" organizations like NASA would be working on these important questions, but in this world ashamed of their Lord and Savior, they won't go near it. Other questions answered in the book concern DNA similarity between humans and chimps, global warming, Tiktaalik, vestigial organs, the formation of the Grand Canyon, Noah's Ark, why God created viruses among many others, and the most important one - how can one be saved.

Now, I'm not privy to the inner circle at AIG, but having perused their literature as well as other YEC (Godly) materials, I have been able to deduce what a memorandum given to potential contributing authors might look like. Since creationists need all the help we can get to help win souls to Christ in the face of the godless hordes and lab-coat cabal, I figured I could help Ham out by posting this list. Here are the top fifteen rules creationists authors should abide by when they sit at a keyboard and type for Jesus such as for a book like this:

15. Use the word "truth" repeatedly (twice every sentence is a good rule of thumb) -- even when it doesn't truth make any sense, truth. Also, make truth sure that you use a truth descriptor when possible such as "real truth," "ultimate truth" or even better--"true truth."

14. Treat all scientific facts as if they are to be accepted on authority alone and not evidence. Because that's the way we believe the Bible and so any other epistemic method doesn't exist.

13. Set up belief "choices" not based on whether something is true or based on evidential and rational merit, but rather on desire such as "If you are going to Believe the Bible, you can't believe in evolution." Exactly! If I'm going to believe that I can flap my arms and fly, I can't believe in gravity!

12. Repeat mantra-like basic findings of science such as "millions of years" with an air of sneering derogation as if it signals the arrival of a pedophile in your neighborhood.

11. Use a middle-school version of post-modernism to defend "differing interpretations" of evidence. This way you can look at a square and call it a circle and say that it's "all about different starting assumptions."

10. Always use sciencey-sounding language to give the appearance that your claims are scientific. Your audience won't be able to tell the difference between your word salad and something with actual meaning or accuracy, but it's all for Jesus, so it doesn't matter. Integrity and intellectual honesty are the worldly mistresses of those hell-bound secular humanists.

9. Never miss an opportunity to utilize logical fallacies:

Argument from ignorance - always assert that anything that science can't explain means that God must have done it. Never mind that that is only passing the buck of mystery.

False dichotomy - If biology (or geology or zoology or genetics or any other scientific discipline) actually has explained something, deny that it has or simply assert or imply nobody has offered an explanation and therefore the Christian God wins by default.

8. Never, ever, ever acknowledge that there are countless other mythologies in existence, many of which predate the Genesis cosmogony because then you will have to explain why yours is to be taken literally while all those others aren't. Remember, again, that your audience is generally ignorant and those other myths are out-of-sight-out-of-mind.

7. If you run into a particularly troubling piece of evidence for evolution, just fall back on conspiracy theories. If a naysayer wants evidence for this claim, say that that is the nature of the conspiracy - they cover up any evidence of their existence. Creationism FTW!

6. Continually assert that scientists are abandoning Darwin's theory in droves (because he's the only scientist that ever did work on the topic *wink wink*). Never provide evidence for this claim and never mind that this is an obvious lie. Remember, your audience won't know the difference and they will believe everything you say because you're a True Christian(tm) like them.

5. Conflate cosmology with biology at every chance. Never mind these are completely separate topics. If the Big Bang didn't directly create a human being - the ultimate goal of the entire universe - then it's all false.

4. Make up asinine questions that cast doubt on evolution like: "How did evolution know to evolve the first woman when the first man evolved?" Remember, third graders knew what they were doing when they asked about algebra: "How in the world do you add and subtract letters?"

3. Accuse science, and in particular evolution, of simply being "another religion." Because you and your audience find it hard to fathom a non-faith-based epistemology.

2. Never forget to mention something about Hitler and racism being somehow related to the theory of evolution. Remember, before 1859 when Darwin published The Origin of Species there were no tyrants and no such thing as racism.

1. Always purposefully confuse the colloquial definition of theory with the scientific one because this will be the best sound bite that your audience will take away: "Evolution is just a theory." Never, ever mention that gravity is also "just a theory" or that we can talk about the germ theory of disease.

If you follow these simple guidelines, you are well on your way to writing a best-selling creationist book like this winner!
